Grain Audio has been around for awhile, best known for their wooden Bluetooth and bookshelf speakers. Made from solid Walnut, these headphones are the first over-ear offering from this audio manufacturer.

Grain Audio’s OEHP.01 over-ears were released last month with a $199 retail tag. We’ve detailed the benefits of using solid wood in conjunction with audio before, and these new headphones are no exception to that rule. Wood allows for a warmer sound thanks to the properties of the material and Grain has leveraged that in its favor with handpicked walnut that comes from a FSC-approved source.

When paired with 2x40mm proprietary loudspeakers, OEHP.01 provide a responsive listening experience across a variety of music genres. It has a warm tone overall that is not muddled by an artificially enhanced bass presence. Grain includes an in-line microphone and one-button remote for control with iOS and Android devices.

I’ve spent the last few weeks using the OEHP.01’s as my primary set of headphones and can honestly say that these are one of the most comfortable set of headphones I’ve ever used. The memory foam cushions on the headband and ear-cups provide a soft feel that do not weigh the cans down. Overall, these are a great set of headphones for travel or casual listening.
