I was able to download it for free today, January 13th. Thank you for all your hard work, @justinkahn

I bought Waterlogue from the App Store Jan 2 and was charged for it rather than getting it free. I’ve asked Apple to rectify that. I’ll post the results here.

II could’ve gotten a refund but would’ve missed out on updates from the App Store. It’s a great app so I decided to keep the payment in place. Apparently I ordered it before the story was updated with details necessary to get it free.

      Apple said:
“Terry, while reviewing the app “Waterlogue”, at original time of download (01/02/2015) the app was not listed as free and was listed at 2.99. The price for this app increased from 1.99 > 2.99 back on 12/02/2014.

“Please know if I proceed with a refund for this purchase, you will lose access to updating or re-downlaoding this app. Due to this, I would like to ask if you would like to keep the app at the listed price, or to proceed with the refund.”

Offer still works as of Saturday a.m. I think the confusion some folks are having is due to not swiping left in the fourth step in Dan’s instructions. Don’t scroll all the way down the page, swipe left when you see Start Something New. The Waterlogue icon is the only one you should see.

Thank you for the more detailed instructions.

Near as I can tell, these offers require both the iPhone Apple Store app and a physical iPhone. On an iPad, even specifying the iPhone Apple Store app will download the iPad version, which looks and behaves differently, and redirects one to the App Store. After as much prodding and poking as made sense to me, I could see no pathway to this deal.

Still $2.99 even thru the Apple Store app.

How did you guys get it to populate for free???? I followed all the directions on both iphone and ipad and its still showing $2.99?!?!?!

Not working for me either only 3 hours after this article posted. I’m in the Apple Store app (not the App Store app), finally found a reference to Waterlogue app, tap that only to be brought to the App Store where it’s $2.99. I’ve already spent too much time on this, moving on.

And I haven’t seen any Featured tab in the Apple Store app either. 🙁

I assure you it’s there for US iPhone users 😀

-open apple store app for iPhone
-tap on ‘stores’ on the bottom horizontal menu bar
-scroll down past the store info to the area that says ‘start something new’
-swipe that image to the left
-tap on the Waterlogue whale icon
-tap on the ‘download now for free’ green banner at the bottom

Yup. That did. it Thanks for the info. Everyone, just carefully follow Dan’s directions. I got the app at 6:25pm EST January 2.

    It’s $2.99 from my pov, too…

  9. Ronald Epstein - 11 years ago

Not free in the Apple Store app. That is, unless I am doing something wrong

    • edehoratius - 11 years ago

Have to do it from the Apple Store app (not the App Store). There’s a banner on the Featured tab that takes you to the App Store with a download code. I had the same problem / question originally.

      • Ronald Epstein - 11 years ago

Nope. Don’t see it. Went to Apple Store App. Went to Featured. Found Waterlogue but it takes you to a $2.99 app.

    • mlanders1433 - 11 years ago

It just worked for me. Are you sure you went to the Apple Store App and not the App Store app? I know I’ve made that mistake.

It’s not the link with several apps. It’s jist Waterlogue

      • Ronald Epstein - 11 years ago

I will try it again. Downloaded the Apple Store app for the iPhone. It took me to the normal App Store app and that is where I still saw a price attached. Thanks for the help thus far

      • Ronald Epstein - 11 years ago

I finally found it. It’s almost hidden that if you scroll down the Apple Store app too fast you might miss it. Got it! Thanks for all the help

I’m not seeing the FREE part for this app. Always says $2.99, even following your instructions.
