This HP wireless all-in-one printer is just another selection from HP’s wide range of printers made for home use. With a monthly duty cycle of 1000 pages, this best selling printer is well suited for low volume work, as well as some light photo printing. Print quality is top notch thanks to a 1200 dpi for black and white prints, and a 4800 x 1200 dpi for color printing. The HP OfficeJet printer is also capable of borderless printing, and supports dual sided printing, scanning and copying. The printer also has great connectivity options, and may also be used for a small business to help get things going. The office jet also ranks pretty high on our list as a best all in one printer, as it has a lot to offer at a very affordable price.

Why We Like It – HP OfficeJet 5255

The HP OfficeJet is an all-in-one printer that allows you to print scan copy and fax from the comfort of your home. The inkjet printer boasts of a 2.2 inch mono touch screen, a 35 page automatic document feeder, automatic duplex printing and a 25 page maximum capacity output tray. If you are searching for an equally cheaper printer, this Hp Officejet 3830 review may be helpful.

Pros
  • 35 page Auto Document Feeder
  • Two sided printing
  • Instant Ink Ready
Cons
  • Slow printing speed
  • Expensive Ink costs outside the Instant Ink program

Performance

The HP OfficeJet requires a little patience when working with it since most people would regard it as fairly slow compared to the Brother Laser Printer. For black and white prints, it works at 10 pages per minute, and gets a little slower at 7 pages per minute when doing color prints. It also has two ink cartridges that it comes with; a black one and a tri-color cartridge. The document feeder that’s on the printer’s top side can hold up to 35 pages, which is good enough when you have a pile of work to get done. It’s speed may not be as high when printing, but it does increase when doing a scan copy or faxing. Generally, its performance is almost similar to the Hp Officejet 5255.

Design

Almost similar in looks to the HP OfficeJet 3830, the HP 5255’s design is much more functional than anything else, and its small compact footprint means you can have it on your desk without taking up too much space. It’s plastic design represents good build quality, and its WiFi functionality allows you to send jobs from your phone through apps like Apple AirPrint, Morpria, HP ePrint among others. The HP OfficeJet also has a USB port for PC connections, but it doesn’t have an Ethernet port.

Value

If you want to keep costs down while using this printer, or the HP Envy 5055 for that matter, we suggest subscribing to HP’s Instant Ink program where the printer automatically sends its ink levels to HP so that they know when to send a new ink cartridge. If not, then you’re going to grapple with high ink costs, to a point where you’d be spending much more than the amount you used to buy it. With the program, you’d be avoiding a text cost of 8.7 cents per page for black and white prints, 34.3 cents for graphics and $1.55 for photo prints. Also, the printer only works with high yield ink cartridges, which makes it even more expensive to stay out of the program.

HP OfficeJet 5255 Wrap Up

The HP OfficeJet 5255 is a great printer to go for if you don’t want to leave a hole in your pocket, and still get your hands on a good & effective tool. It’s also one printer that allows you to print scan, copy and fax efficiently from home, without having to worry about using different machines for those jobs
