The phone case market is an ultra competitive area, with companies from all over the world vying to protect your device. When you go to the mall, your opportunities are nearly endless when it comes to wrapping up your iPhone. From leather cases at the Apple Store to knock off plastic cases from China, you’ll find something.
Indiana based case maker Carved is working hard to find its place in that area of the market. With a unique take on design and a simple mission at its core, Carved is creating high quality cases that focus on protection at a fair price.
Apple left a gaping hole in the accessory world when it decided not to release an updated dock for the new, larger iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Shortly after their release, third party manufacturers have brought forth some beautiful and functional docks, but most are made of either aluminum or hard plastics.
A new company on the iPhone accessory scene, Quell & Company, which was co-founded by former Nike designer Jeremy Saxton, has created an iPhone Spool Dock that won’t feel out of place amongst modern home decor…
The Relonch camera hopes to take the best smartphone cameras to another level. Compatible with the iPhone 5s and 6, Relonch Camera is a Lightning equipped accessory that promises to produce “magazine-class” photos. Your iPhone slides into the Relonch camera just like any other iPhone case so installation should only take a few seconds. Relonch doesn’t require a WiFi or Bluetooth connection and it’ll even act as a power bank to keep your iPhone charging…
Amazon has the uNu Power DX external protective battery case for iPhone 5/5s in black, red or white for $39.99 shipped. That’s around $40 or 50% under the original listing, $39 under the going rate direct from uNu and matching the best prices we’ve ever seen outside of a one day sale when it was…
The curved edges of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are one of my favorite design elements of any smartphone. I absolutely love how the glass flows into the aluminum body. However, this design makes it tricky for manufacturers of screen protectors. All of the protectors we’ve seen so far are either cut about 4mm short to accommodate the curves or attempt to offer edge to edge protection but installation is difficult, which often results in a bubbly mess.
How’s your Russian? Apparently Rozetked who got the iPhone 6 ahead of time got their hands on what appears to be the next GoPro4 camera out there with some nice specs in tow. 4K videographers will appreciate the 30FPS and the 120FPS on the 1080P. For still images, you’ll be able to capture 12 megapixel photos at 30 frames per second.
Audio capture is also improved, with the new system capturing 2x the dynamic range.
On the front of the camera is an ultra-wide angle glass lens, and the camera can be set to three different field-of-view settings: Ultra Wide, Medium, and Narrow.
There will be new manual settings for both photography and videography — controls such as color, ISO limit, exposure, and more.
The camera is waterproof down to 131 feet (40m). Other features include built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, exposure settings for nighttime shooting, a “HiLight Tag” feature for marking key moments in footage, a QuikCapture feature for powering up and recording with one button press, and auto low light features.
A few more versions of the new round of GoPros was profiled by Petapixel earlier this week.
Yesterday, it was revealed that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus could be charged faster (in some cases as fast as 2 hours to full) using a 2.1A AC charger like the one that comes with the iPad. Curiously, Apple has only included the typical 5W 1A iPhone charger that it traditionally has with its iPhone 6 and 6 Plus meaning that your iPhone charge times coming from much smaller iPhones are going to go through the roof.
Not to worry! The gadgetnewsonline team will get you updated to 2.1A USB ports across the board with the best products/deals we could find for a wide range of 2.1A USB needs…

Introduction
Founder Dan Sullivan started the journey that would eventually lead to the development and release of his music products in the Apple Store as a synth circuit designer. Being a banjo and guitar player himself, he was always interested in bringing the two worlds together to create unique musical performance technology that would accommodate string players. Born out of that motivation, Minneapolis, Minnesota based Zivix is comprised of a small core group of passionate individuals set to create and release innovative new music products that meet the demands of modern day musicians.
Based on blockbuster preorders and city spanning launch lines, many new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus owners probably had to settle for a different model than they had originally hoped for. iPhone 6 Plus buyers were hit harder as many retail outlets are now quoting October and November shipping estimates for Apple’s largest smartphone.
If you were lusting over the new 128GB models and ended up with 64GB or even 16GB, then you may want to consider these wireless options for increasing your iPhone’s storage capacity…
Satechi has just introduced the first Smart Selfie Arm that lets you easily and effortlessly perfect your smart phone selfies. It’s compatible with the iPhone 6/6 Plus as well as other iOS and Android phones and features Bluetooth enabled controls. It also has an adjustable ball joint for 360-degree rotation as well as various tilting angles to create unique photos. Just simply pair your phone to the monopod and use the integrated controls “to capture the perfect photo.”
In my opinion, these are some of the best looking budget iPhone 6 cases we’ve seen yet. rooCASE tech accessories traditionally receive favorable reviews. Available in five different styles that complement the three unique iPhone 6 colors: Alpine White, Champagne Gold, Granite Black, Persian Rose, and Space Gray. Features include:
Case designed specifically for Apple iPhone 6 (4.7-Inch)
Hybrid TPU and Polycarbonate for impact protection and scratch resistance
Full Body iPhone 6 coverage & 5H Hardness Screen protector
(Update 5/19 10:30am): The time has come. Apple has randomly announced a new Lightning dock for iPhone 6/Plus. However, you should still take a look at the numerous third party options (below) that have been on the market for years. Many of these options offer more styling and better value compared to Apple’s dock.
If you were one of over 4 million people who preordered an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus this weekend, then you may have noticed that one of Apple’s most popular accessories for previous gen iPhones is curiously absent from its online store. As of right now, Apple seems to be sitting on the sideline and will not be releasing a dock designed for its newest smartphones.
Docks position your iPhone in a way that makes it easier to keep tabs on incoming notifications, all while helping create a clean workspace by wrangling messy cables.
There are already several iPhone 6 and 6 Plus dock solutions. Here are our favorite docks, stands, mounts, and more:
Based on the same technology used on its popularYeti and Snowball microphones, Blue’s Mikey is great for live location recording with iPhone and iPad as well as interviews, audio for video and anything else you can think of. It also doubles as a Lightning audio interface for other peripherals with the included 1/8″ input jack for guitars, other mics and line-in devices. Mikey features three recording modes, a 230-degree swivel mount, a USB connector for device charging and is compatible with iPhone 5, 5S, 5C, iPod Touch (5th Gen), iPad (4th Gen) and iPad Mini.
For a complete rundown on everything Mikey has to offer check out our full review along with the quick preview video below:
The Lightning Mikey has received a 4.2/5 star rating among Amazon customers. If you’re interested in the 30-pin model, Amazon currently has it for $44.31 shipped (orig. $100, the current best price we can find), and for even higher quality recordings check out our full review of the Blue Spark which currently sits at $165.96 shipped (Reg. $200, within a $1 or so of lowest on Amazon).

Introduction It always seems like small companies based in America have great stories. We’ve seen them time and time again as part of our Small Statesseries, from generational pride to simply solving a problem in your life. But sometimes it all just starts by throwing the football from your workshop across the street to another. For Joe Mansfield and Ken Tomita, that’s how things got started. That’s how Grovemade in Portland, Oregon came to be.
Preorders for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus kicked off late last night and if early sales are any indication, these new models are going to be the best selling iPhones in Apple’s history. This year’s iPhone lineup is also the most expensive ever, with the iPhone 6 Plus topping out at $949 without carrier subsidies.
At minimum you should keep your iPhone in a durable case to protect it from everyday bumps and drops, but you should also consider a protection plan for more catastrophic accidents.
Keep reading to get all the facts you’ll need to choose between the two most popular iPhone protection plans…
The Juice Pack Helium arms your iPhone with up to 80% more battery life in an ultra-thin design. Use the included micro USB cord to charge your iPhone and the Mophie battery at the same time. It’s made from a durable polycarbonate to protect your iPhone from bumps and falls.
Walmart, the giant US retailer, often negotiates exclusive price cuts on products that smaller retailers can’t match. Just like last year, it has set its sights on the all new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. According to a report published tonight by CNET, Walmart is set to trim $20 off both of Apple’s new super sized…
Apple itself and authorized resellers are competiting for your iPhone 6 purchase next week. This battle has spurred some retailers to sweeten the pot with trade-in offers. We’ve already seen Verizon Wireless up the ante with its offer that allows iPhone 4 owners to trade up to an iPhone 6 for free.
Now, Radio Shack is the first retailer to offer a non-trade special on Apple’s all-new line of flagship smartphones…
These probably aren’t going to be the best case you’ve ever owned, but for less than $6 they should be perfect to hold you over until you can find your ideal case. As of right now, the cases are slated to ship by tomorrow, so you shouldn’t have any problem getting one before September 19th. Note: Monoprice doesn’t mention if any of these cases are compatible with the iPhone 6 Plus.
Update (9/12 2:45pm): The trade-in promo is outlined in this press release by Verizon. Update (9/11 11:15am): The promo is still not back up on Verizon’s site, but the details can be found in this post made by a Verizon Wireless Customer Support rep. Update (9/10 5:45pm): Looks like the promo has been removed Verizon’s website. We’re…
With the 2,000mAh, MFi Aero system you can charge with a USB cable traditionally or wirelessly using the included charge pad. All of your device’s features are accessible and it comes with “premium protection from scratches, fingerprints, smudging and bumps.” With this additional juice, Aero says you’ll get 10 hours of talk time, 8 hours of browsing or 42 hours of music playback.
Along with the Apple certification, the Aero case has received a 4.2/5 star rating from over 230 Amazon customers. If you’re looking for a little more power but don’t need the wireless charging, the 2,300mAh uNu DX case is available on Groupon for $39.99 (within $4 of the lowest price ever).
The Native Instruments line of Maschine beat production products marry hardware controllers with rich software instruments, loops and effects to create an all-in-one music making suite. The hardware controllers range from the $349 Maschine Mikro up to the $999 Studio model, but Native Instruments also makes a stripped down, yet still very powerful version of its Maschine platform for iOS. Regularly priced at $4.99, iMaschine for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is available as a free download inside of the (also free) Apple Store iPhone/iPod touch app.
Simply download the free Apple Store app and boot it up. Hit the “Store” tab along the bottom and scroll all the way down to the iMaschine icon, then tap on download now for free.
While you certainly won’t find all of the features in iMaschine you’ll have at your disposal in its full fledged counterparts, we are still talking about a very wide range of possibilities here. There are 16 pads for rhythm programming, as well as a keyboard for melodic parts and sampling possibilities from your device’s mic or your iTunes library. It supports the purchase of additional sound packs via in-app purchases much the same as the Maschine hardware, but it does come packed with 100MB of content including 10 projects, 25 kits, and over 400 samples.
You’ll find more features along with quick demo video of musician Jamie Lidell putting this thing to the test below:
The Defender series features a a locking inner plastic shell, built-in screen protector, and outer rubber cover. A belt clip holster is included and you can choose from a few different styles and colors.
*iPhone 5s users: the fingerprint identity sensor will not be accessible with this case.
Apple might be readying a new Lightning cable to ship alongside iPhone 6. Even if that doesn’t come to fruition, you can still pick one up right now and solve one of life’s greatest first world problems.
Truffol, an online gadget accessories seller, is now listing a reversible USB Lightning cable for $9.99. It’s 3.3ft long (same as the standard Apple cable), but more importantly, you can insert the USB end with either side facing up (just like the Lightning end):
Walmart has cut the prices of both of the current iPhone models substantially in what looks like some early prep for the iPhone 6, which is expected next month. As noted by Engadget, you’ll be able to get the 16 GB model of the iPhone 5c for only $.97. No, that’s not a typo. The phone is now selling for ninety-seven cent.
The 16 GB iPhone 5s also got yet another price cut, this time down from $99 to $79. Both of these prices are only temporary and will climb back to their usual points in 90 days—unless of course a newer model comes along and knocks the retail price of these handsets down a few bucks.
The iRig Pro is an all-in-one recording solution for singer/songwriters and podcasters as well more experienced musicians looking for a quick demoing set-up on the go that works with all of their Apple devices. It offers mic and guitar inputs with “high definition, high-quality A/D conversion,” +48V phantom power for use with condenser mics, a suite of music-making software and apps, and will also double as a Midi interface using the included iRig Midi cable.
It comes with three cables: “a Lightning cable for newer iPhones, iPads and the iPad mini; a 30-pin dock connector for “older” devices; and a USB cable for connection to your Mac laptop or desktop.”
Omaker sent us a review unit this week and it works darn well for a $16 speaker.
Their words:
It has a metallic finish with simple design. It features Bluetooth 3.0+EDR and it’s “unique and compact ostrich egg fashion appearance slips easily into your bag for use on the go.” It’s high definition and surprising fullness realized through a 4W driver and bass port – outclassing other similar-sized portable speakers. Built-in big capacity Polymer Lithium Batteries allow for a playback time of up to 8 hours.
Ours:
Is it going to give something like Logitech’s Boom line a run for its money? No, not at all. But it is pretty nice and a nice accessory for a mobile device. It pairs easily and it actually says in broken english “MOMI IS WAITING FOR YOUR CONNECTION” and then confirms your connection. Then when you lose connection, more broken English.
It sounds a little bit better than the speakers on a MacBook Pro and yet it can fit in your pocket and make speakerphone calls very nicely though we heard an echo in our testing). It has lasted over 5 hours in our brief testing.
It received 4.6/5 stars and great reviews from Amazon customers. We’re in agreement. If you need a speaker and have $16 to spend, then go for it!
After being announced in late June, Jabra’s next generation Stealth Bluetooth headset has become available for purchase starting today. One of the key features of this new product is the inclusion of Siri and Google Now control, allowing you to pull up your virtual assistant at the touch of a button. This addition allows you to keep your iPhone or Android device in your pocket while still accessing key information on the go.

Update: AgileBits is offering 1Password for Mac at 30% off right now for $34.99 (Reg. $50). The iOS version remains on sale for $9.99 (Reg. $18). IK Multimedia, makers of mobile and home recording gear, are releasing the new iRig Mic HD for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac/PC. The HD is an all-in-one recording option designed for home recording, podcasters and online radio broadcasters as well journalists and videographers on the go.
An upgraded version of IK’s previous model mic, the HD is a digital condenser that has a built-in “low-noise high-definition” pre-amp and features 24-bit, 48 kHz A/D converters, that negate the need for a sometimes expensive audio interface. It also has a handy gain control to ensure recordings of all types get tracked properly.
It comes with both a Lightning cable for your iOS devices as well as a USB cable for your Mac or PC (the 30-pin connector is sold separately). It also comes with a mic clip (for standard sized mic stands), a carrying case and a suite of software for iOS and Mac/PC including iRig Recorder, VocaLive and AmpliTube.
While you’re not likely to get the same quality digital conversion through one of these as something like a high quality Apogee interface, you’re also paying a fraction of the price at $129.99. Early impressions seem to be positive in terms of recording quality for the price range, but it may be smart to look into comparable Blue Microphones which have dropped in price recently. However, you’ll still pay significantly more for a mic that does both iOS and Mac/PC like the new iRig HD Pro.
The iRig Mic HD is available for preorder now and will come in a black model and a silver one exclusive to the Apple Store.
Realmac Software has put its popular Clear app for Mac on sale for $4.99. Regularly priced at $9.99, this is the lowest we have ever seen the app go for on the Mac App Store by $2. “Over 2 million people” use Clear for its to-do and reminders tools. With a simplistic gesture-based design for…
This is an excellent case for iPad mini users, especially those that are tough on their devices or give them to kids. It is fully submergible to 6.6 feet for 60 minutes in water and meets military standards for drops up to four feet. LifeProof declares that it is the “thinnest, lightest, toughest, most advanced tablet case ever made”.
Note that this is listed for non-retina iPad Minis because it covers the backside noise canceling mic on the sliiiiightly thicker iPad Mini Retina but should otherwise work properly.
Update (7/31 1:00pm): All iPhone cases are now sold out.
