Nintendo is continuing to update its popular Switch 2 GameCube library and now that we have moved into 2026 it’s time to take an updated look at the lineup. 

If you are, for some reason, one of the only folks out there with a Switch 2 that doesn’t have a copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you might want to consider this deal. Nintendo just recently released the Switch 2 Edition alongside some additional content for the game, but the Switch 2 Edition will run you $65. That’s almost certainly worth it, but you could also scoop up the Switch 1 edition on sale for $44.99 Prime shipped at Woot and then grab the $6.99 upgrade pack from Nintendo to land the same package for $52. Chances are it’s going to be a long while before we see the proper Switch 2 edition down at a price like that. “Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition features enhanced resolution, mouse control support for faster and easier decorating, a megaphone for calling your animal residents that uses the system microphone, and more.”

Nintendo announces release date for new physical Talking Flower collectible, pre-orders live today

The first Xbox Developer Direct event of 2026 goes live today. This will be our first Xbox dev showcase in quite some time and it all goes live down below starting at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. 

Today Nintendo announced the official release date for the new Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park alongside a new trailer. You can check that out right here, but we are also tracking a deal on the original Switch 1 version of Super Mario Bros. Wonder down at $46.99 Prime shipped via Woot. Regularly $60, this is the lowest price around and Nintendo has officially confirmed “you’ll be able to access the new content by purchasing an upgrade pack” today as well. It has confirmed the $20 price tag on the upgrade, and that means, much like the other Switch 2 Edition releases of Switch 1 games, you’ll be able to land the discounted copy here today and purchase the upgrade pack for less. 

These new features and more are available when Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park launches on March 26. If you already have the original Super Mario Bros. Wonder game and Nintendo Switch 2, you’ll be able to access the new content by purchasing an upgrade pack⁴. Pre-orders for the Super Mario Bros. Nintendo announces release date for new physical Talking Flower collectible, pre-orders live today

While we are still tracking a host of notable New Year console game deals in physical form below, this morning’s roundup is highlighted by the now live PlayStation Store New Year Deals. Nintendo has just official revealed Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition with a series of upgraded features specifically for the new console, as well as a FREE update coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Nintendo Switch. 

Nintendo has had a busy week with the launch of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance on the Switch 2 GameCube library, the debut of the new My Mario toys and collectibles, and the new purple/light green Switch 2 Joy-Con, but it’s time for some deals. It has now officially launched the first new eShop sale of 2026 as the Supercharge event goes into to full force today with discounts on AAA third-parties, some wonderful indie games, and even some first-party Switch titles. A new year has arrived and a new set of official Joy-Con for your Switch 2 have as well. This morning, in the official Nintendo Today! app, Nintendo has given us our first look at a set of new Switch 2 Joy-Con with the purple/light green treatment. 

The next Nintendo Switch 2 GameCube release has been revealed! After dropping Wario World into its GameCube Nintendo Classics back in December, Nintendo is injecting the collection with one of the more highly-anticipated titles from the GameCube library – Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.

Last summer Nintendo revealed a new set of Mario toys for the Japanese market under its new My Mario moniker, and it has now announced it is coming to the U.S.

It has been a bit of a sleepy start to the year for Nintendo so far, but now, just 8 days into 2026, it is ramping things up with the reveal of a new set of Joy-Con 2 as well as the official, overview trailer for the new Mario Tennis Fever. 

Xbox has announced when the next Developer Direct showcase will go live. Taking to the official Xbox Wire this morning, it won’t be long before we get another official look at Forza Horizon 6, Fable, and more.

Alongside the second-iteration of its latest 25W 3-in-1 charging stand (now with a modular wearable charging pad), Belkin is also revealing a brand new Nintendo Switch 2 charging case at CES 2026. This time around Belkin is taking a more integrated approach, complete with an onboard status display and the ability to charge the battery case without opening it. 

One of the biggest stories in gaming of the year, despite the launch of Switch 2, Mario Kart World, and Donkey Bonanza, was Hollow Knight: Silksong. The long-awaited title finally made landfall to rave reviews, and now developer Team Cherry has taken to its official news feed to debut the new teaser trailer for the Hollow Knight: Silksong – Sea of Sorrow expansion and to officially announce the imminent release of an updated version of Hollow Knight for the Nintendo Switch 2. 

The 2025 Game Awards goes live tonight Peacock Theater in Los Angeles with over 3 hours of game reveals and almost certainly some world premiers, musical performances, and…some awards too I guess. I’m really in it for the game reveals and new gameplay footage we are sure to be graced with very soon, so let’s see what Keighley and the gang have in-store for us – watch the show live along with us down below. 

Nintendo has now unveiled the next GameCube game coming to Switch 2 via its Switch Online Nintendo Classics library – Wario World – and it’s playable right now. 

Nintendo has now officially the next games set to land in its Nintendo 64 Switch Online library. While many folks are really waiting on the next Game Cube additions, Nintendo is turning back to its N64 library this month to introduce a pair of classic 3D polygonal platformers (and they are going live every soon). 

Update: The new Virtual Boy hardware is now available for purchase directly from Nintendo for Switch Online members. “This product can be purchased by those who have a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. To play games in the Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics, you will need an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. The Nintendo Switch Lite is not compatible.”

During today’s lengthy Nintendo Direct, we did not get any updates on the Switch Online GameCube library, but Nintendo did officially announce Virtual Boy! It is ready to add an entirely new console to its Nintendo Classics collection in the form of the ultra-retro Virtual Boy library alongside an actual Virtual Boy peripheral you stick your Switch or Switch 2 inside of. Details below.

Sony has just officially announced the 2025 PlayStation Black Friday deals. The next major Nintendo Switch 2 release is quickly approaching with the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4: Beyond set to land early next month. Now just under 3 weeks from launch, and just after Nintendo unleashed the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Edition – Survive trailer we featured, a brand new Metroid Prime 4 Overview trailer has just released on the Nintendo Today! App – we are assuming it will be up on its YouTube and X channels very soon (if it isn’t already). 

Red Dead Redemption – Rockstar’s Wild West epic – has been available on Switch for a couple years now, and after details leaked on the ESRB site suggested it would be receiving a native Switch 2 port very soon, Rockstar has made it official – Red Dead Redemption is coming to Switch 2 (and a bunch of other platforms) next month.
