The launch of iOS 9 is just around the corner, but there is still time to become a full-fledged app developer. The iOS 9 Swift Coding Course teaches Apple’s coding language from scratch, and it is currently $59 over at gadgetnewsonline Specials.
You don’t need any experience with coding to take this course, as the tuition starts at the shallow end of Swift. However, you soon make progress, learning your way around Apple’s Xcode app and the features of iOS 9. You can then move on to iCloud integration, setting up notifications, and using the new stackView and AVAudioRecorder classes.
The format is step-by-step video instruction, followed by an assignment to test out your new skills. All together, there are ten functioning apps to build. This process not only hardwires the newly acquired skills into your brain, but it also gives you a nice portfolio. In total, the course amounts to 35 hours of content.
You can currently get 80% off this exclusive course – add to cart now.
Spigen’s original Apple Watch dock was an instant hit with early adopters. But that was before Apple announced watchOS 2 during WWDC. The first major software update for Apple Watch includes Nightstand mode, which turns your Apple Watch into an alarm clock while it charges overnight. It’s going to be a convenient feature, but the problem is that it is only available when your Apple Watch is sitting on its side. That means most current Apple Watch docks, including Spigen’s first offering, aren’t compatible with Nightstand mode since they can only hold Apple Watch in an upright position. However, Spigen’s new Apple Watch dock was built with Nightstand mode in mind:

Since Apple Watch was released back in the Spring to varying degrees of fanfare, accessory companies have been rushing to develop and ship their own products for this new timepiece. There have been different levels of quality and styles that charge, hold or store Apple Watch. While the low-end market has been flooded with plastic charging solutions, we have not seen as many options that mix natural materials with Apple’s latest device.
Today we’ll be looking at DODOcase’s $100 Charging Stand for Apple Watch that is made from USA-sourced wood and is handcrafted in San Francisco.

AnkerDirect via Amazon offers its 4-Port USB-C hub for $19.99. However, we’ve partnered with Anker to bring gadgetnewsonline readers an exclusive deal: coupon code FYPVFIP7 during checkout drops your final cost down to $13.99 Prime shipped. That’s the first discount of any kind we’ve seen on this recently released hub. Early Amazon reviewers rate this hub a perfect 5 out of 5 stars.
Apple may have pushed USB-C into the spotlight when it released the all-new 12-inch MacBook, but other devices like Google’s updated Chromebook Pixel also feature USB-C. This hub will let you use all of your existing USB-A flash drives, printers, sync cables and more with your USB-C equipped device. Other features include a built-in 1.3-ft USB 3.0 cable, an aluminum design, up to 5Gbps data speeds, and a 16-month warranty.
Keep it mind that it doesn’t have an extra USB-C port so you can’t charge your MacBook and use the hub at the same time. If you need charging capabilities as well, you’ll want to go with this type of hub.

Newegg is offering the Griffin WatchStand Dual Charging Dock for Apple Watch and iPhone for $24.99 shipped. Regularly listed at $30 on Amazon and Griffin direct, this is within $0.50 of the recent 4th of July sale and the best price we can find.
This stand uses your charging puck to keep Apple Watch charged and showcased along the top. Its molded base stores the excess cable and features no-scratch padding with a slight lip to carry your iPhone at the same time. It is one of the few docks out there that supports watchOS2 clock mode and can charge horizontally. You can get a full breakdown in our hands-on review on 9to5Mac.
It has a 4.7/5 star rating from over 50 Amazon customers.
More from Griffin:
Easy, effortless charging for your Apple Watch
Introducing WatchStand, Griffin’s new charging & display dock for Apple Watch.
Designed for bedside, tabletop or desktop use, makes charging your Apple Watch effortless. Just lay your Apple Watch against the angled cradle. Your MagSafe connector’s magnet gently snaps itself onto the back of your Apple Watch and begins charging. Your charging cable is always where you need it and oriented for perfect contact between the MagSafe connector and the back of the watch. Accommodating both semi-flexible and fully flexible bands, WatchStand securely displays and charges your Apple Watch vertically or horizontally for the perfect view.
Extra cord length wraps neatly away in WatchStand’s post, keeping your tabletop uncluttered, and your charge cable from becoming crimped or tangled. The weighted base is shaped to hold your iPhone, with non-skid padding that won’t scratch tabletops.
Your new Apple Watch needs a safe, secure place to charge when you’re not wearing it. Griffin WatchStand delivers.

By now you’re probably tired of looking at the same old band on your Apple Watch. You could easily switch up its style with one of Apple’s different bands. But their sky-high prices make it nearly impossible for most people to afford different styles.
Third party bands have been popping up and some are suprisingly good. This black 38mm Stainless Steel band is one of the most popular on Amazon and is currently down to its lowest price ever, just $36.99 shipped. It’s also available in multiple colors and the larger 42mm size, but prices vary. 72 Amazon reviewers rate it 4.2 out of 5 stars.

Well known and well reviewed watch accessory maker Clockwork Synergy has a couple dozen Apple Watch band options made from leather or nylon with prices starting at $25.95. Even cooler, they sell Apple Watch adapters in multiple color finishes for $14.95-$16.95. You can use these to put any watch band on your Apple Watch. For a limited time you can save 15% on all of these accessories with coupon code mac15 at checkout. All orders qualify for free shipping.
Whichever band you end up with, make sure you have a nice dock for your Apple Watch. I’m partial to Nomad’s aluminum offering (currently 15% off), but there are tons of other styles available.

Update: The Pebble Time is now available to purchase from Best Buy and is coming to Target next month.
Pebble has a long-time friendship with Best Buy, and now the smartwatch maker is launching the first widespread availability of its new Pebble Time through the retailer. Available for $200, the standard 22mm non-steel version of the watch is now available for consumers to put their claim on red, black, and white models.
While the Kickstarter Edition just recently began shipping to those who backed the watch, those just now realizing that they would actually like a smartwatch that has a color e-paper display, more than 5 days of battery life, and cross-platform compatibility are in luck:
We recently reviewed the Pebble Time, saying that while it does have its upsides, it still feels stuck in the past compared to the currently-available Android Wear devices and the Apple Watch. Long battery life is nice, but the lack of a touch screen and sketchy compatibility with iOS hold the device back—especially at this price point.

Pixar changed the film industry forever when it released Toy Story back in 1995. And ever since then John Lasseter and crew have been releasing full-length animated films that push the limits of technology and storytelling. The incredible titles that Pixar has produced in such a short period of time is staggering: Toy Story, Up, Cars, Brave, and Monsters Inc. Just to name some of my favorites.

This Friday Pixar is releasing its next film called Inside Out. To mark this occasion iTunes is currently featuring a Pixar promotion that discounts every full-length Pixar movie as well as some apps and other goodies. Pixar/Disney movies rarely go on sale, especially on iTunes. If you’ve been meaning to fill out your movie collection now’s the time to do it. Each movie usually sells for $19.99:

Individual rentals are discounted as well. The Pixar Story is also on sale at iTunes for $14.99 and Google Play for $12.99, which I would highly recommend if you’re interested in learning more about Pixar Animation Studios. You should be able to sync any of these movies with Disney Movies Anywhere to watch them on nearly any device.
