If you’re looking for an action camera to record your exploits, the GoPro Hero8 is a fantastic choice. It has amazing stabilization and has many cool modes like Timewarp and Liveburst. All this comes with the same durability that GoPro cameras are renowned for. This action cam can take on rivals like the Osmo Action and anything on our best digital camera list.

Why We Like It – GoPro Hero 8

The GoPro Hero8 Black is one of the best action cameras on the market. It’s got a new design that’s more rugged than the previous models, with even better video quality. This GoPro Hero camera has the usual features like image stabilization mixed with new features like the light mod, media mod, and Hypersmooth functionality. The new GoPro has great improvements to keep up with advanced cameras like the DJI Osmo.

Pros
  • Rugged
  • Many mods available
  • Great video quality
Cons
  • Small rear screen
  • Average low-light performance
  • A bit expensive

Performance

The Hero8 Black is all about excellent image quality and ruggedness. It can record incredible video in 1080P with a frame rate of 240fps. Thanks to Hypersmooth 2.0, all the bumps and movements get filtered out. The 12-megapixel camera has many different functions including Slo-mo, Time Warp, and LiveBurst. It also has an HDR editor and GoPro App editor. Another new feature of the GoPro Hero8 is the Digital Lenses function which allows you to change the frame settings. If you’re not recording on the move, the Canon Powershot SX530 might be a better option.

Design

The new black GoPro is much better than the older Hero7 Black and has new features. The old lens cover has been phased out and the lens itself has been strengthened. The battery life has also been improved. There are now many add-on mods available such as the display mod and light mod, which totally enhance the Hero8’s capabilities. It also has a built-in mount, so you no longer need the mounting frame. The GoPro is much tougher than other small cameras like the Sony DSCW800.

Value

The value of the GoPro Hero 8 depends on how you use it. If you use all its features, then it’s well worth the money. If you just need a regular small camera, then it might be worth getting something like the Canon PowerShot ELPH 180. The Hero 8 is made for people who are on the move and need a tough camera that can still put out high-quality imagery. With new rivals like the DJI Osmo Action, the Hero8 still provides excellent bang for your buck.

GoPro Hero 8 Wrap Up

In this GoPro Hero8 Black review, we’ve found it to have excellent quality. It’s not the best camera for night filming, and it’s a bit expensive, However, great quality comes at a price. This is a camera that can go anywhere and be used anytime. You can even upload one of your pictures to the GoPro site and get an image credit.
