Finding the best Chromebook for artists can be tough; it needs several features to ever be considered. One candidate is the Google Pixelbook i7. It is super thin and lightweight, despite being made entirely of metal. And its 2400×1600 resolution and color look fantastic when paired with an art program.

Why We Like It – Google Pixelbook i7

Expensive but powerful, the Google Pixelbook i7 brings versatility and a sweet 2400×1600 resolution to the table, along with a long battery life and super thin, yet durable metal design.

Pros
  • 10-hour battery + fast charging
  • Super thin and lightweight
  • 2400×1600 resolution
Cons
  • Pricey
  • Very few ports

Display Type & Resolution

The resolution on the 12.3-inches is, to best express it: pretty bomb. While 1080p is nice and all on the HP Chromebook 14, the Google Pixelbook i7 pushes that aside for a resolution of 2400×1600, which is fantastic. Colors really pop alongside pixel density. And since it’s touch screen, it also reacts to your touch, a must-have for artists and if you want to use a Google Assistant-powered pen.

Battery Life

With 10 hours of battery life, getting work done with the Google Pixelbook i7 isn’t going to be a difficult task to accomplish. You’ll be able to last an entire day without touching your charging. Need an extra charge though to get you through the rest of the day? Hop over to a nearby outlet and let it charge for 15 minutes. Thanks to fast charging, that’s enough to give it 2 hours of juice.

Weight & Durability

Measuring 11.43 x 8.69 x 0.44 inches and weighing only 2.45 lbs, the Google Pixelbook i7 is super thin and lovely. This is especially surprisingly considering the body is made entirely of aluminum. Its strength easily outclasses the Lenovo Chromebook S330.

Inputs

The Google Pixelbook i7 offers so little as far as ports are concerned. You get two USB-C ports, one on each side, and a single audio jack. Both can charge your device, or use one for expanding ports. Aside from that, it also has Bluetooth and 802.11ac Wi Fi.

Value

All of what the Google Pixelbook i7 sounds great and all, but pricing might make you reconsider this as your first laptop. Dropping $1352 might be too rich for your blood. The question then becomes: is it worth it? The fast 7th Gen Intel Core i7 pairs nicely with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Lastly, it’s almost $400 cheaper than the Google Pixelbook Go i5 Chromebook, an arguably inferior model.

Google Pixelbook i7 Wrap Up

When placed in the right hands, the Google Pixelbook i7 would, over time, make up for its heavy price. It’s long battery life is highly sought after, as is its durability, weight, and design. More importantly, it’s highly versatile, going from a laptop, to a tablet in one quick movement.
