Need the best Dyson vacuum for everyday use, capable of tackling hard floors and carpets alike? We would recommend the Dyson Multi Floor 2 as the best vacuum for such a situation, thanks to its powerful suction Dyson is so well-known for and its ability to handle a wide range of flooring.

Why We Like It – Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 Review

The Multi Floor 2 has everything it needs for everyday use, while including Dyson’s incredible technology, injecting it with power and performance few can match. Compare this model with our Dyson DC41 review to see how the different models stack up.

Pros
  • Can be used on various floor types
  • Superb suction power
  • Certified Asthma and allergy friendly
Cons
  • Performance suffers on very thick carpeting
  • Not ideal for pet hair

Performance

When we took the new Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 for a spin, it reached and often surpassed our expectations. It has such strong suction across multiple types of flooring, largely handled by its self-adjusting cleaner head automatically raising or lowering its suction seal when transitioning from one floor to another.

The radial root cyclone technology is also quite the monster against very fine dust. This pairs well with its HEPA filtration system. When you’re cleaning, allergens will get trapped in the HEPA filter, which are then disposed of when you empty the bin (and clean the filter).

Where it suffers is high pile carpeting and pet hair. It’s not that it can’t handle pet hair, but other models like the Dyson Ball Animal or Dyson DC65 are better suited for the job.

Design

Physically speaking, this vacuum Dyson designed isn’t far off from previous models, but its internal technology has obviously improved, aside from its patented ball technology. It has served Dyson well in the past by making the vacuum turn on a dime—especially when banking around furniture. A wand and long-reach hose comes with the deal, allowing you to reach far underneath furniture or sweep cobwebs from the ceiling, in addition to a stair tool. It has a dust bin capable of holding onto 1.89 liters of dirt and dust.

Value

Dyson’s upright vacuums tend to be more fully realized while their smaller counterparts, like the Dyson V6 Motorhead and V6 Trigger, are stripped down versions with niche usage. Unlike those two, the Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 is meant for everyday use. This is evident with its powerful suction found in all Dyson vacuums across multiple flooring types. When you couple that with its 5 year warranty and certification for being asthma and allergy friendly, you’ve got yourself a vacuum with excellent value.

Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 Review Wrap Up

While the Dyson Upright Multi Floor 2 doesn’t handle pet hair as well as we wish it would, and thick shag carpeting is the cutoff—the Multi Floor 2 still lives up to its name beautifully. And to be fair, there’s models that handle pet hair. Not to mention it’s certified asthma and allergy friendly, trapping allergens in the machine rather than expelling them back into your home.
