Swamp coolers are one of the cheapest solutions that you could turn to for air conditioning. They don’t use up too much electricity, and this also makes them very energy efficient. Most of them are also portable, so you’ll be able to move them into whichever room you need to have some cool air in. Weighing 295 pounds, the Cool-Space 36-VD variable speed direct drive portable cooler however isn’t as easy to move around, so you’ll need to find a nice spot to place it in. It’s also more of an industrial pick, so it’s not suitable for use in a house or home. Go ahead and get to the end of this review to find out what else it’s got in store, and see if it could be the best evaporative air conditioner for you.

Why We Like It – Cool-Space 36-VD

The Cool-Space 36-VD variable speed direct drive evaporative cooler is the perfect cooling mechanism for you to implement in your warehouse, factory, aircraft hanger, greenhouse, or any other large space. It’s got a fan size of up to 36-inches, which allows it to service a floor area of up to 3600 square feet.

Pros
  • Large 46 Gallon, built-in water reservoir for standalone operation
  • 8 Inch thick cooling media
  • 5 Year Warranty
Cons
  • Heavy

Performance

The Cool Space 36-VD portable evaporative cooler is capable of providing cool air to an area that’s up to 3600 sq ft thanks to a large 36 inch fan. This makes it perfect for commercial use, where you want to cool down a conference hall, or a large workshop. At about 8 inches, it’s got very thick cooling media, and the benefit of this is that it gets to really filter out any small particles in the air, and prevent any kind of pollution. It’s cooling media is definitely a lot thicker than what you’ll find on the Hessaire MC37M, but the one advantage that you’ll find on the MC37M is that it’s got 3 sided high-density cooling pads, providing a larger surface area through which it generates cooler air.

Energy Efficiency

If you’ve ever used a typical air conditioner before, then you know how much electricity it tends to take to run. If you’re looking to scale down on this, then evaporative coolers are the way to go. They work by getting warm outside air through wet and evaporative pads, effectively cooling it. The only component of this process that requires electricity is the fan, and with the Cool Space 36-VD, you’ll get one that’s very powerful, at 0.75hp.

Filtration

To keep the air that you breathe fresh and healthy, the Cool Space 36-VD swamp cooler relies on it’s cooling media to filter out any unwanted particles. Just like the Hessaire MC18M, it also doesn’t have a specific filter that does that job, but this shouldn’t be something that should get you worried.

Durability

The Cool Space 36-VD swamp cooler trumps the Luma Comfort EC111B in a lot of ways, but perhaps the most significant is the fact that it’s got a 5 year warranty, which is very rare to find in an evaporative cooler. The 5 year warranty covers it’s parts, and on top of that, you get lifetime coverage on its thick UV resistant housing. It’s housing makes it ideal for outdoor use.

Value

You’ll be able to go for hours without a water supply connection with the Cool Space 36-VD, and this is because it’s got a 46-gallon, built-in water reservoir. It’s fan amperage is also pretty high, as it is capable of an airflow output of 6400 to 9700 CFM. You’ll also be able to appreciate how quiet it is for its size, as it produces only 61 decibels of noise.

Cool-Space 36-VD Wrap Up

The Cool Space Avalanche-36 variable drive portable evaporative cooler is perfect for that large warehouse that gets unbearably hot and humid during the day, and with a 5 year warranty backing it, there’s no reason you should doubt it’s capacity to do a good job.
