The Asus Chromebook Flip C302 allows you to explore the possibilities of chrome OS further than you could have in many other Chromebooks. It provides you with all the performance you need, paired with a great metal build as well as a compact and lightweight design it is the ultimate travel friendly chromebook. And so, with an impressive battery life added to that, the Asus Chromebook Flip C302CA stands at the baseline of being the best chromebook with the right balance between power and price.

Why We Like It – Asus Chromebook Flip C302

With Intel Core M processors paired with sufficient RAM and a premium build, the Asus Chromebook Flip C302 provides you with an amazing performance, allowing you to breeze through your day’s work with ease. It allows you to use the Chrome OS to a further extent than other chromebooks, and along with a full HD display and a backlit keyboard, it stands out among many of the chromebooks out there. You can compare this chromebook with the Asus C302CA Flip Chromebook if you want an alternative.

Pros
  • Full HD display
  • Impressive battery life
  • Solid and premium build
Cons
  • You can’t have legacy connections without adapters
  • Trackpad is a bit small

Performance

Starting with a Pentium 4405Y processor, the base model of the Asus Chromebook flip C302 packs in 4GB of RAM (compared to the Acer Chrome book Spin 713 with 8GB of RAM) as well as the Intel HD Graphics 515. This provides you with enough power to get through certain everyday tasks but can get a bit laggy when you open up a number of tabs. But, not to be concerned, with just a little increase in price you can upgrade to a Intel Core M3 6Y30 processor which provides you with more power than most other chromebooks with intel celeron processors. You can also take it up to an Intel Core M7 processor if you feel like you need it, but the Core M3 is good enough to get your everyday task done and would be the best choice for most people. However, it won’t be as good as that of the Google Pixelbook, but to be fair, that’s on a whole different price range.

Moreover, the Asus Chromebook Flip C302 also comes with a Full HD 12.5 Inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. This gives you a bright and clear screen, allowing you to work with ease and also pack in a bit of video or movie streaming. And that becomes much more easier thanks to its impressive battery life of around 9 hours which is much longer than that of the Pixelbook as well as the HP Chromebook X2, but not reaching upto the Samsung Chromebook Plus V2’s splendid 10 hours. Adding to that, you also get a decent sound system with two stereo speakers on the sides giving you clear and loud sound.

When it comes to storage, the Chromebook C302 offers you at least 64GB of eMMC storage that allows you to store android apps, music and a whole lot more to enjoy the time when you’re not online. As a cherry on the top, you also get the 100GB google drive storage and you can also get more storage thanks to the SD card slot.

Finally, the Asus Chromebook Flip C302 also provides you with a good keyboard which allows you to type with ease thanks to a good amount of key travel, but you might feel that the trackpad is a bit small. The keyboard also has backlight support with adjustability, whereas in less expensive choices like the Acer Chromebook R 13 don’t even have backlight for their keyboards.

Design

Coming with a thin design measuring 0.53 by 11.96 by 8.26 inches and weighing just around 2.4 pounds, the Asus Chromebook Flip C302 is one of the most travel friendly chromebooks out in the market. Added with its metal body and convertible hinge design, the Flip C302 has a solid and a simple yet elegant build. Apart from its 12.5 Inch touchscreen display you also get a decent amount of port availability. With two USB type C ports and an SD card slot it’s the least we can expect in a chromebook. However, to connect USB flash drives or make other legacy connections you’ll need extra adapters which may get a bit bothersome.

You can easily convert the Asus Chromebook Flip C302 into the tablet mode or a tent mode to take a greater advantage of the wide range of apps in the play store. This can range from playing games with google play or just watching videos with ease thanks to the solid convertible hinge.

Value

The Asus C302 is indeed a bit more expensive than the basic chromebook. But on the other hand, it starts off on the baseline of more powerful chromebooks. Whereas basic chromebooks with intel celeron processors don’t have much power and may end up lagging with just a few number of tabs and android apps open, with the Flip’s intel core M3 processor you can get more done in a shorter amount of time. Sure it isn’t as powerful as the Samsung Chromebook Pro or the Google Pixel book, but it has a lower price than them. So even though it may not be the best Chromebook in terms of performance, it offers you a great amount of it, at a moderate budget friendly price.

Asus Chromebook Flip C302 Wrap Up

Sure the Asus Chromebook Flip C302 doesn’t catch upto the more premium chromebook like the Google PixelBook when it comes to performance. But, if you compare the price and what the C302 offers, we get to see that at a price just almost half that of the Pixelbook you can get yourself a device capable of giving you enough power to do your day to day tasks without needing to plug in as much. Thus, with a balance between price and performance, the Asus Chromebook Flip C302 offers you a great display, decent sound quality, a great keyboard all packed into a pretty premium design for just about $480.
