Anker unveils Flare and Flare+ featuring 360º sound, waterproofing

Anker has unveiled a lot of new products this week. Among the release of over-the-ear headphones and sports earphones are the Flare and Flare+ Bluetooth speakers. In addition to these new products, Anker announced that unification of their audio brand. All products announced this week will be branded under the name of Soundcore by Anker.

Anker initially began shipping audio products in 2014. Since their debut, their products have been very well-received by customers. In fact, over the years they have become a top-selling brand at both Amazon and Walmart. If you perform a quick search for Anker on Amazon or Walmart, not only will you see a lot of products, but you will notice that nearly every single product has 4+ out of 5 star reviews.

The new Bluetooth speakers announced this week include Flare and Flare+. These products feature 360-degree sound (similar to Apple’s HomePod) and IPX7 waterproofing (speakers can be immersed in 3.3-feet of water for up to 30 minutes) in a compact and minimalistic design. Flare and Flare+ both look very similar, but Flare+ produces louder sound and has longer battery life.

Anker claims that with most speakers of this size, quality bass is often lacking. To solve this problem, Soundcore engineers developed, BassUp. BassUp allows both Flare and Flare+ to produce “very large sound and powerful bass without distortion”. Time will tell if the new BassUp technology will truly deliver on this promise. Anker has also packed in app-controlled LED lights to the bottom of both Flare and Flare+, allowing customers to customize their speakers.

While Anker specializes in audio, they are far from being a one-trick pony. They are also well-known for their charging cables, battery packs, AC adapters, USB hubs, and much more. Their experience developing other types of products across many categories has, in many cases, given them the upper hand over other audio products.

Along with the debut of Flare and Flare+, Anker also announced that they have made a few new retail partners. Going forward we will begin to see their products for sale at Best Buy, Brookstone and Target. When considering this new partnership announcement, it seems that Anker has chosen a very wise time to unify their brand.

Flare will begin shipping on Amazon starting May 7th and one-week later at Walmart. Flare will be priced at $59.99. Flare+ will be available in August and will cost $99.99. Both Flare and Flare+ will be available in the following colors; black, gray, blue, or red.
