This BioLite FirePit keeps the smoke out of your outdoor experience

This time of year it’s always nice to enjoy an evening with friends around a camp fire. The only thing that gets in the way of these occasions is the smoke the fire produces. A new Kickstarter funded product has a solution to this problem. The new BioLite FirePit is a smokeless wood-burning device that can cook your meals and give you an almost smoke-free fire that everyone can enjoy.

The BioLite is far different than your average fire pit in that you get an efficient burn with way less smoke than any other option out there. Plus, you can enjoy the feeling of a 360-degree floating fire with the fire pit’s X-Ray mesh screening. You can even burn charcoal or wood embers for a hibachi-style grilling experience with it.

When there’s smoke coming from a regular fire it’s typically unburnt fuel that could have been combusted in the fire. The BioLite has at total of 51 air jets that actually inject the fire with oxygen in key areas with the fan located inside a USB-rechargeable orange power bank. This in turn creates a more uniform temperature and mixing of gases inside the fire which really improves combustion.

This technology allows for two great things to happen when in use. For one you get the same crackling, smell, and feel of a real wood burning fire without the smoke. Also, you can actually get a warm, roaring fire with less wood because you’re burning the fuel more efficiently.

You can control the airflow system that has 4 fan speeds to direct the intensity of your flames. If you want a small campfire feel, you turn it to low. If you want a roaring fire that radiates a lot of heat outward, crank it up to high.

With 28 days left in its campaign, the BioLite FirePit has already met its funding goal (and then some). A pledge of $199 or more will get you your own BioLite FirePit off the early bird special. As a member of the Kickstarter community, you’ll also receive a free solar carry cover with integrated shoulder straps designed exclusively for the FirePit so you can automatically recharge when not in use. That’s a $60 value at retail. Shipping to backers is estimated for November of this year.
