Canon recently introduced a new cordless mini projector that lets you beam photos and video without the need to attach it to a PC or other devices. It can project full 1080p video up to 3 meters away and create an 84-inch screen projection on almost any blank surface. The wow-factor of this projector is that it’s only about the size of a 4-inch square and weighs just half a pound. So you’re getting a widescreen projection from something smaller than a tablet.
The Canon M-i1 Mini Projector runs completely wireless and is definitely made for portability. At only 105 x 105 x 22mm, you can slip it in a bag or even your pocket. It has an internal battery that can last for up to two hours on a full charge and can even charge USB devices if you needed it to do so. The video and images it projects can be stored on its internal 4GB of memory. You can also attach USB flash drives for additional memory. It has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for even more connection and sharing options as well. So now with this device you’ll be able to project photos and video from your phone or tablet without having to first connect to a computer.
The brightness level on this projector is rated at 701 lumens and it uses an LED light that you can expect to last over 10,000 hours. And for when you’re watching video, it also has a built-in speaker that lets you hear what’s going on. The projector runs an Android operating system and can support just a few apps, but you’ll still be able to browse the web with it. It also has a built-in touchpad for navigating its menu options and through your media files.
The Canon M-i1 started selling earlier this month from Canon’s online store in Japan and it is selling for $270. There’s no word when it will be available in other markets. If you’re looking for something to use in the meantime, Amazon has this DBPOWER T20 1500 Lumens LCD Mini Projector for under $100 right now.
