HEXA is a highly maneuverable six-legged robot that will be available soon

We have all imagined a day when robots will be a part of our daily lives. But, they still have a long ways to go before becoming mainstream. HEXA is the first of a new generation of accessible and programmable robots to hit the market. It’s currently being funded on Kickstarter and for a hefty price you could own one.

This spider-like robot only stands about 4.7-inches tall and 20-inches wide. It has intelligent features such as an accelerometer, a 720p camera and an infrared sensor. Plus, it even has night vision mode for operating in the dark. The robot gets its brain power from a Linux-based system called MIND. It’s designed to be the toolbox that users toy with to get HEXA doing what they want it to do. With MIND, you can create movements and applications that bring your ideas to HEXA.

HEXA’s optical and spatial sensors allow it to watch and learn from the world around it, and allow you to create interesting and intelligent functionality.

HEXA is a friendly, six-legged robot. It’s agile, smart and compact enough to fit in your backpack. HEXA has a high degree of maneuverability and can nimbly handle different environments and terrains.

HEXA still has 27 days to reach its fundraising goal of $100,000. If you want a HEXA of your own, you can get in on the early bird special with a pledge of $499 or more. If all goes as planned backers will start receiving their robots in February of 2018.
