Glu Games is a well known mobile developer with a massive selection of highly rated titles on the App Store. One highlight from the collection is the MLB Tap Sports Baseball series the company has been producing for a number of years now. It all started with the original title in 2014, followed by yearly installments in 2015 and 2016. This three titles have amassed a solid following and combine for 4+ star rating from around 50,000 gamers. So it’s no surprise that we were excited to hear about the latest entry hitting the App Store.
After David Ortiz was featured on the cover of previous entires in the series, Glu is partnering with Kris Bryant of the Chicago Cubs for MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2017. Once again we are getting Tap’s usual turn-based gameplay and one-touch controls, along with deep team management features. The Home Run Battle mode, tournaments, multiplayer and leaderboards are also great add-ons to the main experience.
MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2017 is looking to up the ante in a number of ways. Firstly, while the Tap Sports Baseball series has always been officially licensed from the MLB in some way or other, Glu has paid special attention to detail this time around. All of the teams, players, logos, stadiums and well, everything, look spot-on this time around. Which brings us to the visuals.
To put it bluntly, it looks much better this year than in previous installments. Everything from the on-field graphics and animations, to HUD elements, camera work and character models have been significantly improved. We are getting three new stadiums with full day/night cycles as well as completely overhauled menu and GUI elements. Needless to say, this is a major improvement over last year’s all around.
Glu has also implemented new and deeper RPG-like elements to the game. The tier and experience point systems have all been upgraded including Club progression and the “slugger” tiers. You can also compete in daily challenges and events for some of the game’s greatest legends.
MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2017 is available now on the App Store and Google Play for Android users. It is a completely free-to-play experience with a series of in-app purchases. However, Glu seems to be pretty insistent, that while you can pay real money for in-game items, it is not necessary to enjoy the experience. Most of them seem like cheater style purchases including the in-game endorsement deals, and money packs, but that Multi Draft Pick Pack might be kind of interesting though.
In partnership with MLB, the MLBPA, the MLBPAA, and Chicago Cubs’ Kris Bryant – MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2017 delivers a social-competitive experience for players of all ages. Featuring enhanced graphics, a redesigned user-interface, tournaments and leaderboards, MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2017 allows players to strategically manage their very own baseball team. Marks, logos and players from all 30 MLB teams offer an authentic gameplay experience while seamless turn-based gameplay and one-touch controls allow for quick session lengths anytime, anywhere. Choose your players, set your lineup, and challenge your friends in MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2017!
