A titanium frame, minimalist design and iPhone-connectivity highlight Budnitz’s pricey Model E electric bicycle

It seems like every few months a new designer eBike pops up on the market that looks more unsuspecting than the one before it. Meet Budnitz’s Model E, the latest electric bicycle with big aspirations and a price tag to match. The polished metal frame is gorgeous but its minimalist design will hardly differentiate itself from other man-powered two-wheelers on the road.

The Model E is powered by a 250W electric motor that can push speeds up to 15 miles per hour. That’s slightly slower than some of the other models that we’ve shown you this year. But the slim design cuts down on room for a larger battery pack, so that’s understandable. Its powertrain pushes a grease-free belt drive in an attempt to minimize any maintenance issues.

Budnitz is electing to use a 30W L-ion 160Wh battery that’s going to give riders a 100-mile range between charges. That type of distance coupled with a traditional bike design makes this an ideal solution for urban commutes. Riders will be able to go further for longer without the need to recharge. Its frame is made from steel or titanium alloy, another bonus when it comes to hauling this two-wheeler up and down stairways.

Another notable feature is Bluetooth connectivity for tracking data, receiving alerts and managing settings. This has become standard issue on electric bikes in recent releases as some manufacturers have gone away from a handlebar-mounted display.

Now, about that price. The Model E is available for customization direct from Budnitz starting at $3,950. Pricing goes up from there depending on your feature set, custom coloring, drivetrain and much more. To give you an idea of how many extras are available, there are over 15 categories to choose from with a fully-loaded model topping out at over $11,000.
