Edelkrone wants to replace your tripod with its slick new camera stand

Somewhere along the line, the tripod became a necessity for content creators but stopped receiving the same innovation as the technology it was holding. Popular accessory makers like Joby and Gitzmo have developed alternatives but their products largely stick to the common theme. That’s where Edelkrone comes in with its new StandPLUS. It takes the tripod and turns it in to a smooth device mount that moves and adjusts effortlessly. The video alone will make you want one of these…

Edelkrone has developed an entire line of “smartly designed, user-friendly, customer-oriented filmmaking solutions.” The StandPLUS is just the latest product that takes an old idea and reinvents it in a new way. It’s really unfair to call its latest creation a tripod, because we’ve never seen one move like this.

One of my biggest complaints with using a tripod is all of the knobs and releases that must be adjusted to get started. Even then, positioning at different heights can be very frustrating and difficult to get a level shot. The StandPLUS solves this issue by using a three-legged design with tiny rollers. Each leg pops out and an arm extends up to your desired height. Check out the video below to see the setup in action.

The StandPLUS collapses into a small package that measures just a few inches in width and length. Unlike traditional tripods, this product should offer increased portability with its malleable design. We’d be remiss to not point out the potential for filmmakers on this product. The built-in wheels seem like a minor feature but when paired with the adjustable arm, it becomes a steady apparatus for shooting footage on the move. The video appears to show a product with impressive gimbal-like smoothness in its movements.

As of now, Edelkrone has yet to announce pricing and availability on the StandPLUS. After releasing details this week at NAB, it launched a landing page on its site with a location where you can opt for notifications on this product.
