We’ve seen iOS-connected coffeemakers before, but they’ve usually come way of crowdfunding projects that don’t always make it off the ground. An established veteran in the world of java is making waves with a new top-of-the-line model that is capable of crafting over 100 different drinks. The De’Longhi PrimaDonna Elite puts an entire coffee shop at your fingertips. It focuses on a user-friendly experience that allows coffee-fiends to personalize nearly every detail of their drink and save new creations for later.
Its iOS-connectivity is sure to spark the interest of Apple users. While the price tag may scare some away.
De’Longhi’s PrimaDonna Elite is an impressive piece of equipment, even for coffee aficionados. The system is controlled by the built-in 4.3-inch display or from your iOS or Android device via Bluetooth connectivity. This allows users to control every feature on the PrimaDonna Elite without actually being at the machine itself. It’s possible to completely craft your drink from the free app, customizing nearly every detail from your bed or couch. There are even personal profiles (up to six) that store preferences and favorite recipes for quick access.
Along the lines of customization, De’Longhi has paid attention to most every detail. The conical grinders can be adjusted for a rough or fine grind depending on the needs of an individual drink. Every cup receives freshly ground beans as the system only prepares the necessary amount each time. The aroma levels, temperature, amount of milk, strength and other factors can all be customized and saved based on personal preference.
There are two PrimaDonna Elite models available, the upgraded ECAM560.75.MS has an automatic shut-off and a hot chocolate carafe. This is where things get fun: this add-on hooks up to where the milk jug is housed and the system automatically mixes drinks. There are a handful of recipes in the system that walk you through every step to craft the perfect beverage. The built-in stirring mechanism ensures that there are no lumps and everything is mixed as intended.
De’Longhi recently launched the PrimaDonna Elite over in the United Kingdom with a £1,500 or €1,500 price tag at launch. That translates to around $1,600 here in the States. It’s unclear if the system will make its way to North America, but many of its other products are available here and hold the top-spot on Amazon’s best-seller lists.
