If you’re into hardcore first-person shooters (FPS), chances are you’ve had mixed feelings about consoles. The ultimate customized shoot’em up experience comes by way of the PC and its endless list of peripherals. Console users are essentially limited to the controllers that are supplied by Sony and Microsoft, with varying degrees of success.
Gaming accessory maker Hori has come up with a new custom keyboard and mouse setup. The Tactical Assault Commander 4, which brings the feel of a PC setup to Sony’s PS4. Head below for full details.
Sony’s traditional DualShock controller is mapped across the WASD keyboard and a traditional gaming mouse. The left analog stick gets the standard right/left, up/down treatment while the right stick is controlled by the mouse. All of the other controller buttons are laid out across the keyboard and mouse in appropriate locations.
Additional adaptations include “snipe” and “walk” buttons that adjust sensitivity and your movement speed. This is a follow-up from Hori’s previous generation Tactical Assault Commander 3, which has received mixed reviews since its release. It’s unclear if the upgrades in the new model will be enough to push this accessory over-the-top but we’re always in favor of innovation in this product category.
With a big list of PS4 FPS games coming out in the fall, including COD: Black Ops 3, Star Wars Battlefront and Destiny: The Taken King Edition. The Tactical Assault Commander is currently available for pre-order on some Japanese and British websites, retailing for around $125.
