Update (4/14 12:45pm): On-The-Go has launched its IndieGoGo campaign, if you’re interested in grabbing one they’ve got a number of different pledge options.
If you’re an avid follower of gadgetnewsonline (and we know that you are), you’re well aware of our love of battery packs, USB drives, MFi certification and all around gadgetry. It’s always interesting when companies set out to pair these things together, with varying degrees of success.
We’ve spotted something new today though, fittingly named On The Go, which aims to combine storage, charging, streaming, device tracking and more into a small package. The multi-functional connectivity on this thing is impressive, from iPhone to Android to Mac, it has everything covered…
Coming in just over 2 x 2 inches, On The Go has a simple design, looking like nothing more than a small piece of plastic. Its namesake is boldly printed in the middle, which is where the all the features are controlled. By sliding the top in different directions, On The Go’s connectivity options are exposed. A push to the the right reveals a MFi-certified Lightning adapter, to the left is a microUSB plug and up shows off the full-sized USB 3.0. These three alone cover the major device companies on the market but its the functionality that makes On The Go stand out.
First, it can be used as a charge and sync cable, for any of the aforementioned devices, whether attached to a charger or PC. Its built-in 1000mAh 2.1a battery can provide a modest boost to your device, enough to make a few extra phone calls.
It comes in three different storage capacities (32, 64, 128GB), allowing it to hold photos, videos, music and more, which are all accessible via an iOS/Android mobile app. The app serves as go-between for users to grab content that is externally stored without needing to take up value on-board space.
Additionally, On The Go has Bluetooth capability which enables three features: it can be a remote for your music, a trigger for taking photos or it can help locate your keys on the optional ring.
On The Go is available for pre-order today: 32GB for $129, 64GB for $179 and 128GB for $279. All of these prices will jump by $70 once the pre-order period is over.
