If you are interested in a better sleep experience, but find the Sleep Cycle app or an expensive mattress aren’t the answer, you may want to check out the Luna smart mattress cover. What was born out of an Indiegogo campaign is set to become a reality later this year. Instead of re-making an entire mattress, that would ultimately prove to be very costly, Luna is a mattress cover that fits many beds. It is covered in sensors, which helps track your movement, sleeping habits and interacts with your data to monitor your overall health.

Perhaps the biggest feature set of note is the Luna’s ability to intermingle with other technology you may own. It takes HealthKit data into account, ultimately cross-checking data to provide better knowledge of what makes you sleep well, or poorly. Additionally, it can interact with other smart devices such as Nest, WeMo or Hue, although some may require If This Then That along the way. Luna claims that upon settling in bed for the night, it will be able to trigger your lights to shut off, your door to lock and temperature to adjust. Likewise, in the morning your coffee will begin to brew when you awake.
While a smart mattress cover doesn’t necessarily scream cool or high tech, its ability to co-exist with other technology makes it something worth noting. As data collection becomes a more prevalent part of our digital lives, this smart mattress cover from Luna is a viable option to add to your home. Pre-order is available now at $179 for full and queen sizes, with a king mattress cover running $219. Luna expects to ship in August.
