After hinting at a launch earlier this week, Insta360 has officially unveiled the latest version of its pocket-sized Go action camera. Called the Go Ultra, it sports a refreshed design along with some notable improvements that make it a solid option for folks who held off on picking up the Go 3S. The new Go Ultra compact action camera is now up for grabs for $449.99 shipped, and it comes in Arctic White and Midnight Black colorways. Hit the jump for a closer look and more details.
Insta360 Go Ultra 4K compact action camera now available
The new Insta360 Go Ultra builds upon the existing Go 3S model, bringing some noteworthy improvements. The brand has ditched the pill-shaped model for a square unit – it now measures the same 1.8 inches on each side, while the Go 3S was a bit narrower. The new model is 14 grams heavier than the Go 3S, but it’s relatively smaller and lighter than many other action cameras out there like, the DJI Action 5 Pro and GoPro Hero 13. The new Go Ultra camera features a 1/1.28-inch sensor, which is the same size as the one in the brand’s X5 360-degree action camera. It also has a new ambient light sensor for better low-light footage, and it can record 4K 60fps videos. Notably, it can even record slo-mo videos at 1080p/240fps.

The new design has given Insta360 more room to add a bigger battery compared to the one on the Go 3S, and the new camera packs a 500mAh battery. This is rated for up to 70 minutes of recording at 1080p 24fps with the screen turned off. It can go up to 200 minutes when paired with the Action Pod, but it’s safe to say that 4K/60fps videos will reduce the recording time quite a bit. It remains to be seen how it compares to the Go 3S, which had a 310mAh unit.
What’s also interesting about the new Go Ultra is that it now supports microSD cards up to 2TB in size, meaning you can swap in replacement cards as they fill up. This makes it a lot better than the Go 3S, which was limited to either 64GB or 128GB built-in storage and no SD card support. The new model is also waterproof to depths of up to 33 feet, similar to the Go 3S. Lastly, it’s worth noting that the new Go Ultra also has Apple Find My support, meaning you can keep tabs on the camera using the Find My app on your iPhone. Insta360 has debuted both a Standard and a Creator Bundle for the Go Ultra, with the latter including some additional accessories like a mini tripod and a quick-release mount. The Standard Bundle, in case you’re wondering, is $449.99 shipped, while the Creator Bundle is $499.99 shipped.
