Are Switch 2 pre-orders gone for good? We have heard there might be a Switch 2 restock coming + retailers that might still go live

Update 4/26: Walmart is now showing Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mario Kart World bundle pre-orders in-stock:

Walmart – Nintendo Switch 2 preorder

Did Switch 2 pre-orders sell out? Yes, and quick too, but there might still be hope. Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and GameStop all sold out shortly after going live yesterday, as just about everyone expected. It seems as though plenty of folks were able to land one, but not everyone was so lucky. That leaves some of us waiting, wondering, and hoping that someone, somewhere might still have some stock on the way, and it appears as though some of the retailers that might not have been on the top of your list might still be readying some pre-sale options for Switch 2.

Are there any Switch 2 pre-orders left anywhere?

As of right now, it does appear as though there aren’t any units immediately available at this time, but there are still more than a couple retailers with placeholder listings up that haven’t gone live yet, suggesting there might still be a chance.

Are Switch 2 pre-orders over now?

Well the first wave of them certainly is. As expected, the big four – Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and GameStop – went live starting at midnight yesterday and sold out almost immediately (providing you don’t count how long some folks had to wait in the virtual lines that is). But we have heard from some inside sources that there could be a re-stock inbound at some point here at the major retailers ahead of launch.

Is Walmart going to re-stock Switch 2 pre-orders?

Whether or not Walmart, Best Buy, or Target are going to get anymore Switch 2 pre-order units before the launch remains unclear. Historically speaking with major console launches like this, we do see units come in and out of stock after the initial run, so it certainly isn’t out of the question. But in the wake of the Trump trade fiasco and general uncertainty in the manufacturing and import/export space right now, it is entirely unclear.

That said we have heard from inside sources that there might be a Switch 2 pre-order restock at Walmart and perhaps the other major retailers. We unfortunately have no way to actually confirm or substantiate these claims, but we have indeed heard there is a chance.

Frankly I’ll believe it when I see it.

Is Amazon ever going to offer Switch 2 pre-orders?

I do not know. But one thing I do know is that Amazon is offering Switch 2 pre-orders in Canada – sort of.

Amazon does have listings up for Switch 2 and the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle right now, but only via its wildly annoying invite request. You know those things where the listing is live but the only thing you can do is login and then hit request and pray to actually get an email from Amazon allowing you to buy one. Chances are slim, but it is worth the 2 seconds it takes to click the button – if you’re in Canada anyway.

As for Amazon in the U.S. – nothing. The official Amazon Nintendo shop hasn’t even acknowledged the existence of Switch 2 and we can’t find a single listing there yet. It could still happen, and it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for Amazon to pop up out of nowhere, but we aren’t getting our hopes up?

Are there any Switch 2 pre-orders left?

Well not at this moment, but there are a few retailers expected to have units, and even some with listings up right now that haven’t gone live yet. Costco Canada had units up, so it might still go live with some in the U.S., alongside retailers like Dell and Kohl’s, but there has been no official word from either of them at this point. As of right now, the best bet for stock appears to be Sam’s Club and Newegg, – the former has listings up that read as “Coming Soon” still and Newegg looks like it could go live at any time. That said, this might just be early launch day listings and pre-orders might have just been delegated to the big four – considering the state of affairs out there with the tariff situation, this might unfortunately be the case.
