Nintendo has now released an official new teaser video specifically showcasing the new “C” button on Switch 2, and right on the morning the highly-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 Direct will go live. The day has finally come and it will only be a matter of hours before the scheduled Switch 2 Direct presentation goes live at 9 a.m. ET, so we will keep this one short and sweet.
Nintendo Switch 2 “C” button on display
Speculation on the still quite mysterious new “C” button has been running rampant for months. Rumors suggested there would be a new button on Switch 2 labeled “C” and this one indeed came to fruition – some rumors are much more than that.
When Nintendo unleashed the first-look trailer for Switch 2 back in January there was one thing many folks expected to see on the Joy-Con missing…sort of.
There was indeed a new square button sitting on the right Joy-Con, but, at least at the time, it was not labelled as the “C” button the way many folks and rumors suggested. But after the brand new Nintendo Today! app debuted the other day, an official render of the console was spotted within and this previously unmarked square button all of the sudden had the, up until then, elusive “C” marking.
Fast forward to today, the day Nintendo is set to host the official Switch 2 Direct showcase, a day million of gamers have been waiting on for months (years!), and quite possibly one of the biggest day’s for Nintendo as a company in nearly a decade now (outside of the looming release of Switch 2 that is), and it has decided to specifically showcase the new “C” button.
This suggests this button might be far more significant than any of us might have thought, doesn’t it?
Nintendo has dedicated the top spot on its new Nintendo Today! app feed specifically for the countdown to today’s Direct showcase, and the final day features a video dedicated to this button, as you can see in the images above and below:
Capture, Chat, some sort of online Campus community access, Cursor to engage mouse mode…what could it be for? We will cerisayl find out very soon now.
