Nintendo releases new official image of Switch 2 in portable, docked, and tabletop mode

Update 4/1: You will now see the official Switch 2 teaser video these images were pulled from yesterday inside of the Nintendo Today! app

Well folks, we are less than 48 hours out from the official Switch 2 Direct showcase, and Nintendo has finally served up another official image of Switch 2….sort of. The Nintendo Today! app in the U.S. still shows the “2 Days to gGo” teaser video that isn’t particularly interesting, but folks in the Japanese timezone are already seeing the “1 Day to Go” image, and it’s a new one that shows the Switch 2 in three different forms.

As you can see above and below, the new image, which is screenshot from a short teaser video spotted on Reddit, showcases Switch 2 in full portable mode, the Joy-Con clamped onto either side of the new Switch 2 Grip in front of the docked console, and, on the right, Switch 2 in table top mode.

Nothing particularly interesting or revealing here, but you if you focus your attention to the far right of the of the image, you’ll see a pair of Joy-Con resting in front of the table top mode Switch 2 console that is making use of the new kickstand.

The right Joy-Con…you know the one with that still mysterious “C” button that Nintendo has now revealed to be labeled as such…is resting up on its side – like a mouse.

A group of gaming devices

Mouse mode has been all but confirmed at this point as official patent filings surfaced last month specifically detailing the feature. But that doesn’t really mean all too much until Nintendo officially confirms it – patent filings are made for loads of products and features that never see the light of day.

That said, evidence is clearly mounting, and Switch 2 looks as though it almost certainly has a mouse mode.

The image above comes from a short 5 second teaser trailer that will grace the news section of the new Nintendo Today! app starting tomorrow as part of the Nintendo’s official countdown to this week’s Direct. Or it will if the U.S. app update is the same as folks in other timezones anyway (it probably is).

And, in case you haven’t noticed we have a sweet little countdown of our own running in the lead up to the Switch 2 Direct as well:
