Chargers-equipped with retractable USB-C aren’t an entirely new thing, but it has certainly been permeating the device accessory power ecosystem as of late and CES 2025 is no exception. First Anker unleashed its new power bank featuring an onboard cord extensions, and next up we have the latest from Baseus – the Enercore charger lineup and the Baseus PrimeTrip VR2 Max that both feature a pair of its own extendable and retractable USB-C cables.
Baseus goes all retractable at CES 2025
Baseus is brand that has been attempting to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Anker and other relatively affordable charging gear brands, and has done quite well. While some of its latest release aren’t quite as flashy as the larger color display models from Anker, Baseus is often times even more affordable and sometimes delivers even more feature-rich solutions from a more practical point of view.
This perhaps is what we are seeing with the brand’s new Enercore CJ11 wall charger it is announcing for at CES 2025 this year.
The Enercore is in many ways a typical wall charger with an onboard USB-C port and foldable outlet prongs joined by the max 67W of output power.
However, whereas Anker’s CES 2025 wall charger focuses on the built-in display and bottom-mounted 4-port setup at a higher price tag, the new Enercore is leaning into the retractable cable trend.
Joining the traditional USB-C port on the front, you’ll also find a pair of built-in USB-C cables that can extend up to 32-inches when in use before neatly retracting back into the chassis and resting flush up against a sort of divot on the front-side of the unit (as seen in the imagery).
The Baseus EnerCore range includes the 67W EnerCore CJ11 Retractable Charger with Dual Cable that carries a $69.99 list price as well as a single cable model and a pair of EnerCore CR11 Retractable Power Banks (pricing details don’t seem to be available on the latter).
The brand is also unleashing quite a versatile new car charger with the same retractable cable tech at CES this year known as the PrimeTrip VR2 Max. Delivering up to 240W of power (maxes out at 105W per port), it too features a pair of 31-inch retractable cables alongside additional USB-C and USB-A ports with a release dats this April at $44.99.
Details are otherwise quite thin at this point, but we will keep an eye out for additional information on both the new Enercore lineup and the PrimeTrip VR2.
