9to5Toy’s Take

The EC100 from ProtoArc is a simple but effective desk chair that provides comfort and support to enable a healthy work lifestyle.

The chair’s assembly was straightforward. I laid out all the components (seen above), which were safely packed and clearly marked. The step-by-step instructions were easy to follow, and ProtoArc included a handy Allen wrench to screw in all the components. I found this tool especially useful when attaching the chair’s headrest, as it was a deep, hard-to-reach screw hole.

I love this tool.

I saved the wrench in my toolbox and will definitely use it on other projects in the future. It’s a small bonus, but I get excited about that sort of thing, so thanks, ProtoArc!

When attaching the arms and backrest to the chair seat, I recommend elevating it atop something. I used a small side table from my office (see above), which gave me the space to easily position the components as I attached them. All in all, assembly took less than ten minutes, and I faced zero hiccups. It was then time to sit and see what the EC100 was all about.

The EC100 from ProtoArc is not the most deluxe of desk chairs in terms of adjustment features, but it delivers everything you need to sit comfortably upright while working or reclining into relax mode. The armrests have a toggle you can easily find without looking to adjust them up or down to your liking, just not in or out.

When sitting, you immediately notice the difference in the comfort of the ProtoArc EC100’s springs compared to a desk chair that only has a foam cushion. I sat for hours with lumbar support that kept me in the correct posture to avoid back pain, and I didn’t experience any fatigue.

Due to the way I sat, I didn’t notice the headrest much. However, when I toggled the lever below the seat to recline, I could easily adjust its angle and height to support my head, all from a seated position.

Overall, the ProtoArc EC100 is a more than adequate office desk chair. It would be nice to have a few more adjustment options, like lumbar support and armrests. That said, ProtoArc has designed the chair quite well. Even though you can’t tweak as much of its configuration as you like, its positioning keeps you in a comfortable and healthy posture that’s worth every penny if you tend to sit through a lot of your workday.

It’s not the most flashy desk chair, but the ProtoArc EC100 can definitely get the job done in any office or home. It has been well-designed for comfort, offers plenty of bodily support, and can support many body types and sizes while remaining stable. I would consider it for your workspace, especially at its current price of $189, with the potential for coupon savings on Amazon (take advantage of that free Prime shipping, too!) When it comes to comfort throughout your workday, you don’t want to simply buy the cheapest option, hence why the EC100 is a viable desk chair that is affordable yet almost premium; check it out for yourself.
