Update: We now know for sure, the new Google Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Gen) will be $229 for Black Friday starting on November 21.
After leaking earlier this summer and official launching thereafter, today we are tracking the first Amazon price drop on the all-new Google Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Gen) at $252 shipped. Regularly $280, full MSRP pricing has held strong on this model ever since it landed on Amazon back in early August – it even managed to side-step the fall Prime Day event. But the first solid price drop from Amazon is now live and delivering a new all-time low there. This one is still up at full price via Best Buy, and the excellent condition open-box units are selling for the same price as Amazon’s new deal today.
The new Google Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Gen) represents the first major overhaul of the Nest Learning Thermostat in nearly a decade. It is described as Google’s “smartest, most advanced thermostat yet,” complete with an attractive design that features a “60% larger” borderless display and Dynamic Farsight so you can see it from across the room – Google has since updated it to fix some of the brightness complaints it received at launch by the way.
Just as the name suggests, the 4th gen model can learn the temperatures you like in your home and when you like them, as well as the ability to make suggestions to save on energy. Not only can it display the weather on the onboard screen, but “Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) learns how the temperature outside affects the temperature inside, and pauses your system to help you save.”
Included in the package is the Nest Temperature Sensor (2nd gen) and it also works with any Nest Temperature Sensor – you can put one of the add-on sensors “in any room to help manage hot and cold spots, and use the Google Home app to set the temp it should reach at a certain time of day.”
It is designed to work with most 24V systems, “including gas, electric, oil, forced air, heat pump, and radiant, and no C wire is required for installation in most homes.”
We were very much hoping to see a deal on the new Google Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Gen) this month, as detailed in yesterday’s Best of Black Friday 2024 – Google feature piece and, while we might see it drop even lower come month’s end, a deal we did get.
