Our annual Best of Black Friday deals features are kicking off today with the upcoming Amazon offers. The gadgetnewsonline Best of Black Friday posts are designed to provide shoppers a better idea of what’s to come, some expert perspective on the sorts of prices you can expect to see, and to help folks avoid falling into the early deals too soon. The best prices on Amazon’s in-house tech almost always come courtesy of Amazon of course, despite being available at other retailers, so we aren’t sure exactly what the prices will be just yet, but we can offer up some insight on the sorts of discounts you can expect based our extensive coverage of the 2024 Prime Day deals and historical knowledge.
Echo Spot
The Echo Spot is the latest and arguably most exciting new release in Amazon’s Echo smart home tech lineup. It combines the half-dome form-factor of the Echo Pop smart speaker, along with its Alexa-enabled functionality, with an onboard display that provides alarm clock functionality alongside heads-up visual of your tunes, the weather, and more.
Carrying an $80 list price, the Echo spot fell to $45 at launch, which was during the summer Prime Day sale, and then again to the same $44.99 for the fall Prime Day event. it is currently marked down to $49.99 shipped at Amazon right now, but we are very much expecting it fall down to $45 once again for Black Friday and likely well ahead of Thanksgiving Day – likely as early as November 16 or November 21, based Amazon’s historical tendency to kick things off well ahead of time.
We are really hoping to see it hit the new $39.99 all-time low, but we are very much expecting it to at least fall back to the $45 we saw for Prime Day.
Here’s a look at where pricing landed on the Echo lineup for Prime Day (this will be a very good indication of where things will land come Black Friday)
- Amazon Echo Pop $18 (Reg. $40)
- Amazon Echo Dot Kids $28 (Reg. $60)
- Amazon Echo (4th Gen) $55 (Reg. $100)
- Amazon Echo Dot (5th Gen) $23 (Reg. $50)
- All-new Amazon Echo Spot smart speaker $45 (Reg. $80)
- Amazon Echo Show 8 $85 (Reg. $150)
- Amazon Echo Show 5 $50 (Reg. $90)
All-new Kindle lineup
Amazon debuted its new family of 2024 Kindle devices in mid-October this year. This lineup includes the Colorsoft, the very first model with a color display, as well as a “reimagined” Kindle Scribe, and the “fastest Kindle ever” and the “thinnest Kindle Paperwhite ever.” Those three variants also join the new base model Amazon Kindle starting from $110.
Just about every other Kindle model still sold on Amazon outside of these four models are all but guaranteed to be on sale for Black Friday an slime at least a week ahead of time – there hadn’t been a Black Friday without Kindle deals in several years now. But the real question is whether or not we will see the new models see their very first discounts for Thanksgiving festivities this year.
We know the all-new, top-of-the-line Kindle Scribe is set for release on December 4, some two days after Cyber Monday this year – that might very well mean it is the only model that likely not to see a price drop for Black Friday. Amazon might very well get aggressive and knock $20 off $40 off the pre-order price of $419.99 shipped, but this model seems the most unlikely for a price drop this year.
As for the other three, it’s hard to say. It very much wouldn’t be unheard of for Amazon to offer sizable discounts on its brand new releases this soon after launch, and we are very much hoping that is the case this year – especially for the new Colorsoft. Straight up $100 price drops seem like they are out of the question, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see $25, $40, and even $60 price drops hit the new Kindle Colorsoft, Kindle Scribe, Paperwhite, and base model 2024 Kindle for Black Friday this year.
- Kindle Colorsoft $280
- New Amazon Kindle Scribe $420
- All-new Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition $200
- New Amazon Kindle $110
All-new Fire HD 8 tablets
Another one of Amazon’s new 2024 releases is the Fire HD 8 tablets. They surfaced for the first time at the beginning of October as the latest models in Amazon’s affordable and value-packed Fire tablet lineup alongside the latest Fire HD 10 and the flagship Fire Max 11.
After seeing some notable launch deals at up to 45% off, Amazon actually just recently brought back these offers on both the standard issue Fire HD 8 as well as some of the Kids’ variants, effectively giving folks another chance at the all-time low prices well ahead of Black Friday. But considering these deals are landing so far ahead of time, we tend to feel there will be additional price drops across most of the lineup come Black Friday. They most likely won’t be by all that much, perhaps $5 or $10 less to bring the standard Fire HD 8 down to $45 or $50, but it does seem likely some additional savings will hit later this month.
Here’s how the currently discounted Fire HD 8 and other Fire tablets are priced right now at the time of writing:
- Fire HD 8 32GB $55 (Reg. $100)
- Fire HD 8 64GB $85 (Reg. $130)
- Fire HD 8 Kids Pro 32GB $110 (Reg. $150)
- Fire HD 8 Kids Pro 64GB $110 (Reg. $180)
- Fire HD 10 $75 (Reg. $140)
- Fire Max 11 $140 (Reg. $230)
- Fire 7 Kids $50 (Reg. $100)
- Fire HD 10 Kids Pro $110 (Reg. $190)
- And even more…
Fire TV Stick streaming devices
There will certainly be deals across the entire collection of Amazon tech, from the Echo Show displayed and Fire TV smart TVs al the way through to its Fire TV Stick streaming devices that just recently received Xbox Game Pass Ultimate support. These devices have dropped down to the all-time lows across the found models in the lineup more than a few times since Amazon teamed up with Xbox and we are very much expecting to see, at the very least, the same deals that were live for both the July and October Prime Day events this year…but we very much would not be surprised to see at least few extra bucks taken of the lowest-end models and an additional $5 off the 4K variants that include the Xbox support.
Here’s how pricing landed on Prime Day this year for reference:
- Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite $18 (Reg. $30)
- Amazon Fire TV Stick $20 (Reg. $40)
- Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K $25 (Reg. $50)
- Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max $35 (Reg. $60)
- Amazon Fire TV Cube $100 (Reg. $140)
Amazon Echo Buds
And last, but very much not least, we think it’s worth touching down with some historical data on Amazon’s lineup of Echo Buds. While for some they fall to the wayside in the wireless earbuds category, we happen to use them on a regular basis and feel the entry-level models tend to hit above their pay grade considering the Alexa integration and ultra-low price.
However, the Amazon Echo buds have seen some wild discounts this year during the two 2024 Prime Day events and are again matching those prices right now. We would be very surprised to see these deals not continue right through the 2024 Black Friday season if not even get a touch lower. It’s hard to imagine prices getting much lower than we are seeing right now, but it is possible.
Here’s how pricing is sitting as of right now (this is matching the Prime Day prices and the lowest we have tracked this year):
- Amazon Alexa Echo Buds with noise cancellation $35 (Reg. $120)
- With wired charging case
- Amazon Alexa Echo Buds with noise cancellation $45 (Reg. $140)
- With wireless charging case
- Amazon Alexa Echo Buds $25 (Reg. $50)
