Today, Sony announced the Smart Tennis Sensor that attaches to select rackets and provides instant feedback on your game. By simply placing the sensor to the bottom of your racket, you are able to track a variety of data and report it to the accompanying smartphone app. Sony has entered into partnerships for this project with a number of the most popular tennis manufacturers, such as Prince, Wilson and Yonex.
Details below:
Small in size, weighing just 8 grams and measuring a hair over 31mm in diameter, the Smart Tennis Sensor will hardly be a noticeable addition to your racket. Utilizing Bluetooth technology, the data collected is automatically transferred to your iOS or Android device for analysis. The sensor can record data for approximately 90 minutes of continuous use with Bluetooth enabled, which Sony estimates is good for roughly 750 swings of the racket.
The Smart Tennis Sensor will be available at Wilson.com by the end of January 2015, with a price tag of $200. If you are looking for a smart tennis sensor that is available now, check out the Zepp Tennis Swing Analyzer which is available from Amazon for $115.84 shipped.
