Tarnished preparing to (die) embark on the Land of Shadow finally got a first look at the highly-anticipated new Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree expansion back in February, and they will again today. Elden Ring was a runaway hit (among gamers that love the FromSoft vibe and like to be punished around every turn….it is incredible), and the company’s long-awaited DLC expansion for the game is quickly approaching with a launch set for June 21, 2024. Today, BANDAI NAMCO is readying its YouTube channel to premiere our next good look at the expansion with the debut of the official Story Trailer. It will go live at 10:55 a.m. ET (there’s a short countdown ahead of time, so likely 11 a.m.), and you can follow along down below.
Official ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree Story Trailer debuts today
Up until the debut premiere trailer went live early this year, almost nothing was known about the setting, characters, or anything about the new DLC. Much of that has changes since – we know the game will take in place in something known as the Land of Shadow where Miquella awaits the return of his promised Lord. But, in true FromSoftware fashion, the game is mostly still a mystery.
A place obscured by the Erdtree.
Where the goddess Marika first set foot.
A land purged in an unsung battle.
Set ablaze by Messmer’s flame.
It was to this land that Miquella departed.
Divesting himself of his flesh, his strength, his lineage.
Of all things Golden.
While we have gotten a good look at some of the terrifying foes, some of which harken back to the gory Bloodborne days, perhaps even more so than what we saw in the main game, but today it’s all about the story. FromSoftware’s games are as much about the ruthless combat as they are about diegetic story telling and narrative, and we will, at least to some degree, get a better idea of what’s going on in the Shadow of the Erdtree Story in just over an hours’ time now.
The ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree Story trailer will begin at 15:00 UTC.
There will be a brief countdown before the presentation begins.

The Elden Ring – Shadow of the Erdtree Edition is already up for pre-order on Amazon at $79.99 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This version includes both the main game and the DLC, but the expansion on its own will be available at $39.99 on various digital platforms as well.
