CES 2026: Eve debuts first smart thermostat – Matter-over-Thread and subscription-free

Eve is a well known smart home brand around here, with a rather extensive lineup of sensors, outdoor weather stations, light switches, plugs, and a whole lot more, most of which with updated Matter support. At CES 2026, the brand is introducing its very first indoor thermostat to expand its footprint in your home.

The new Eve Thermostat is set to hit the U.S. market with Matter-over-Thread support to “maximize comfort and energy efficiency” on all major platforms.

Built with Thread connectivity and Matter compatibility, Eve Thermostat integrates seamlessly into the smart home while operating entirely without a cloud, subscriptions, or user accounts.

The brand’s first intelligent climate control gadget thankfully requires zero subscriptions or cloud dependency, according to the brand, alongside everything else you might expect, including multi smart home platform support via Matter, scheduling options, automations of all sorts, voice command action, and app control.

A series of presence-based automations “allow the thermostat to automatically adjust temperature when users leave or return,” while visual Eco indicators “provide clear feedback when temperature settings are within energy-efficient ranges.”

Judging by the coming soon page on the official website, the new Eve Thermostat is set to land in a sort of extremely pale gray or nearly white colorway with a simple onboard readout and what appears to be physical controls.

It clearly, or at least does not look like, it’s quite as high-tech looking as something from the ecobee lineup with the full-on screen, and perhaps not quite as modern looking as the latest from the Nest ecosystem. While I might want to see the brand explore some looks more akin to its metal framed outdoor solutions, folks already invested in its indoor gear will certainly appreciate the matching simplicity here.

It will land in Q1 2026 at $129.99 when it does hit store shelves – that’s a relatively competitive price for what this thing looks to be bringing to the table.
