Amazon just knocked $50 off the base models M5 MacBook Pro. This is Apple’s most affordable new M5-equipped machine with the best cash discount we have tracked to date.
Amazon is now offering the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro with the 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD down at $1,549 shipped. That’s $50 off the regular $1,599 list price and the lowest price we have tracked to date.
Unless you’re trading up for one of Apple’s new M5-powered MacBooks (Best Buy is offering as much as $800 off the new models and a bonus 10% off pair members on trades), today’s Amazon offer the most notable cash discount we have tracked to date.
But just as we warned potential M5 customers previously, Black Friday is right around the corner. Saving $50 is notable no matter how you slice it and no matter what you might be saving it on, but while you might not think we will see deeper deals on the brand new machine all that quickly, nothing is safe from the grips of Black Friday.
Let’s take a look at last year’s M4 MacBook Pro as an example. It too released in October, roughly the same amount of time before its first Black Friday as the model we are featuring here today. And it carried the same $1,599 list price with the same RAM and storage count as the M5 featured up top. But it also dropped a whopping $200 at Amazon less than a month after it released. In fact, it dropped to $1,399 on November 18, 2024 to be exact – that was three days before even the early Black Friday sale started at Amazon and, just for the record, the lowest it fell to at Amazon through the holiday season last year.
We obviously can’t know for sure what will happen with the new model, but we also can’t say with any amount of confidence or certainty it won’t be a whole lot less expensive than it is right now within 2 or 3 weeks from now. Unless you must have it right now, and I highly suggest you don’t, hold off and grabbing this machine today despite the all-time low pricing.
