Update 10/14: The Assassin’s Creed Shadows Switch 2 release date has now leaked courtesy of a particularly reliable source – the game is expected to launch in Europe on December 5 – that likely means it will be right around then in the U.S. as well, if this date is indeed the real thing. This source also claims an official announcement will hit on or before November 7.
Assassin’s Creed is in the news again to start the week, and this time it’s not for the somewhat controversial new Mirage Valley of Memory expansion – the Switch 2 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows has leaked again. And this time we get a look at the box art.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows for Switch 2 leaks again
Rumors and leaks suggesting Assassin’s Creed Shadows was coming to Switch 2 date back to well before Nintendo even officially revealed its new console. After that, the game was spotted on an official ratings site with a mention of the Switch 2 edition before Ubisoft all but confirmed the port itself:
Guillemot said there will be “some new versions” of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows that “will come on other machines.”
But still, even after an official Partner Showcase…no official announcements have been made.
However, more recently the game was spotted on a French retail site with Switch 2 box art in tow, and the divisive Game-Key Card marking. I don’t think anyone expected this one to release on Switch without the Game-Key Card treatment, but it appears to be official at this point. Some Ubisoft folks have previously suggested the game is just too demanding to run off Nintendo’s Switch 2 cartridges anyway, but you would think that if Cyberpunk 2077 can, this one could too.
Either way, if the recent leaks are to be believed, AC Shadows is landing on Switch 2 sooner than later and you’ll have to download the game after you buy the boxed version.
And we are getting awfully close to the holidays now too. Ubisoft might just shadow drop this thing at some point to capitalize on the holiday shopping season, but we can’t know for sure at this point.

It appears as though the game has been removed from the French retailer in question at the time of writing.
