Official price increases set to hit Xbox consoles in the U.S. (again)

Remember how much it sucked when Microsoft officially announced a price hike on Xbox back in May? Well, it is doing it again. Announced today, Xbox consoles are getting another official price hike, including both the Series S and Series X.

Xbox prices are going up again

Back in May, Microsoft issued an official press release announcing price hikes to the one of $80 on Xbox Series S, $100 on Series X, and $130 on the Galaxy Special Edition. Even some of the controllers and peripherals saw price hikes.

And that wasn’t even the first time Xbox gaming gear prices increased – it also announced price jumps way back in 2023.

And now, once again, tariffs are driving prices up even further once again.

According to the newly updated pricing Microsoft issued today, here’s how things will shake out starting on October 3 by comparison to the pre-May 2025 prices

  • Xbox Series S 512GB: $399.99(Previously $299.99)
  • Xbox Series S 1TB: $449.99 (Previously $349.99)
  • Xbox Series X Digital: $599.99 (Previously $449.99)
  • Xbox Series X: $649.99 (Previously $499.99)
  • Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Special Edition: $799.99 (Previously $599.99)

By comparison to the previous price increase the Series models are going up another $20 while the Series X jumps another $50 and the Galaxy Special Edition is up an additional $70…oof.

And here some additional details on today’s announcement from Xbox – controllers and headsets are not getting another price increase, just the consoles above.

  • Beginning on October 3, we will update recommended retailer pricing for Xbox Series S and X consoles.
  • Pricing for controllers and headsets will remain the same.
  • Pricing for products in all other markets will remain the same.
