Nintendo Switch 2 now up for purchase at Amazon with no invitation needed…have any store credit to use?

The Nintendo Switch 2 and the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle are now readily available for purchase at Amazon with no invite needed. While these consoles have been up for grabs at retail online and in-store for some time now, Amazon’s invitation phase is over – if you have some Amazon gift cards and store credit in the holster, this might be your first chance to score a deal on the new Nintendo console.

Previous to today, the only way actually score a Switch 2 at Amazon was to deal with its invite system – you go to the list page, drop your email down, and hope Amazon pulls your name out of the hat for a chance to buy one. Those days are gone and the console is readily available for purchase.

As alluded to above, this, on the surface, isn’t particularly notable – you can buy a Switch 2 at Best Buy and loads of other places any day of the week for months now. But considering all of the deals we have posted that have come along with FREE Amazon store credit and gift cards over the last couple months, anyone still looking to land a Switch 2 might want to at least be aware that the invite situation is over now.

At some point along the way, Nintendo squashed its somewhat mysterious beef with Amazon and started to allow the biggest online retailer to sell its gear, games, and new consoles once again. Somewhere in and around there, the Switch 2 magically appeared on Amazon after letting Walmart and Best Buy have all the pre-order fun. At that time the console was only available via its invitation system, but the raffle is over and the console is now readily available.

While Nintendo did deal with a delay and the U.S. tariff fiasco just as it was readying to unleash its next-generation console, the whole Switch 2 launch was largely a success in my book. There were some issues during the first wave of pre-orders, but nothing unexpected and millions of folks were able to secure one during the pre-sale or shortly thereafter. Considering the console is readily available at retail now, it was all-in-all a major success and a much smoother launch than I expected.

How smooth things will be come holiday 2025 is unclear – Nintendo did say it was going to stop making the Mario Kart World bundle in the fall.
