Tomorrow is the 40th anniversary for Super Mario Bros. and Nintendo is ready to celebrate. During today’s Direct presentation it debuted a ton of exciting updates and new releases for Mario’s 40th, including a new teaser trailer and confirmation of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. However, on top of that we are also getting a new Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 bundle release as well as two new companion amiibo figures too.
Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Switch 2
We all basically assumed Nintendo would have something up its sleeve for the big 40th anniversary, and while it might not be exactly what the leaks and rumors suggested, it was a pretty strong showing if you ask me.
Alongside Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition with the new Meetup in Bellabel Park add-on (as well as some unmentioned new content), and the Yoshi and the Mysterious Book game, Nintendo is not only heading to the stars for the Mario movie sequel, but it is also ready debut a new Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 package for Switch.
The new package features a series of enhancements for both titles including improved UI, the option to play with button and stick or motion controls, a new in-game music player, and some additional Storybook content with enhanced resolution.
It sounds like the physical release will only be available on Switch 1, but there will be a free update that will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 to bring 4K resolution to the mix for both titles.
Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be available as a physical version, but both titles will launch on the eShop individually as well. Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 launches on Nintendo Switch come October 2, 2025.
Pre-orders are now live on the eShop at $69.99 for the bundle.
