Lenovo’s new Legion Go 2 gaming handheld with Switch-like detachable controllers, built-in kickstand, more, now up for pre-order

After first showing up at CES in January and making its way through multiple leaks, Lenovo’s Legion Go 2 PC gaming handheld is now officially up for pre-order. Lenovo is offering two configurations of Legion Go 2 – one powered by the AMD Ryzen Z2 for $1,099.99 and another with the beefier Z2 Extreme at $1,349.99 shipped. You can pre-order the handhelds from Best Buy now and be among the first to get your hands on them when they officially hit the shelves next month. This new model brings several upgrades over the original Legion Go while retaining many of the features that made the original one popular, like detachable controllers, a built-in kickstand, and more. Head below for more details, along with a closer look at the handheld and its specifications.

Both versions of the new Legion Go 2 handheld available for pre-order are running Windows. Lenovo hasn’t confirmed if a SteamOS edition is on the way, so for now, those wanting that experience will need to look at the SteamOS version of the Legion Go S instead. All Legion Go 2 variants also come with an 8.8-inch 1200p OLED touchscreen that supports a variable refresh rate ranging from 30Hz to 144Hz. It’s a lower-resolution panel at 1920 x 1200 pixels compared to the one on the original handheld, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing and would be easier on both the Z2 and Z2 Extreme chips on the graphics end.

Below is a quick look at the Legion Go 2 specifications to see how it stacks up against the original Legion Go:

The new Legion Go 2 handhelds, as previously mentioned, are now available to pre-order at Best Buy, and you can get both the Legion Go 2 with Z2 and Z2 Extreme chip for $1,099.99 and $1,349.99 shipped, respectively. While they’re a step up in price from the previous generation, it’ll be interesting to see how they stack up against ASUS’ ROG Ally and Ally X handhelds – the pricing for those hasn’t been revealed yet.
