Hollow Knight: Silksong just broke the internet as Steam servers crash, eShop slows to a crawl

We knew Hollow Knight: Silksong was going to be a big deal when it went live this morning on all platforms. But for those folks who were wondering if the launch would crash the Steam servers and break the eShop…the answer is yes.

Reports have been flooding the internet already this morning as Steam and the eShop are both experiencing serious issues handling the sheer volume of gamers trying to get their fix of insect combat this morning.

Steam can barely even tell you the game can’t be downloaded right now and just delivers error pages.

Some gamers are seeing messages like this, asking them to wait 30 minutes before they try again:

The eShop is barely moving – I can’t even load the Hollow Knight: Silksong Nintendo Switch 2 listing page on my Switch 2 right now.

As of right now it appears as though the Game Pass access to the game is running mostly smooth, but Steam and the eShop are still struggling on my end – reports are also suggesting the PlayStation and Xbox stores are not handling the load very well either.

I guess we all expected this, but apparently the folks running these services didn’t?

Anyone actually able to download a copy yet?
