Come tune in to over 30-minutes of 007 First Light gameplay in today’s State of Play

The world’s most famous secret agent is set to make a triumphant return in AAA console game form soon, and Sony is set to deliver a lengthy gameplay blowout for the new 007 First Light this afternoon. We have already seen some relatively brief glimpses of gameplay as well as the reveal trailer, but nothing quite like we are in for today. 

State of Play – 007 First Light gameplay deep dive

Just a couple days ago Sony officially announced the next PS5 State of Play – a dedicated showcase set to offer a gameplay deep dive on 007 First Light. 

This one comes from IO Interactive – the studio responsible for decades of wonderful Hitman experiences (if you’re into that kind of thing, and I very much am). It will be its first foray into the halls of MI6 and world famous Bond franchise. 

That said, and as I’m sure you’re already imagining, this is not a classic GoldenEye-like experience, but something that looks a lot like more of a linear action game that will unfold during what sounds like a new origin story for Bond. How much of the Hitman design ethos we see here remains to be seen, but it does appear to be a mix of smaller sandbox-style stages and action set pieces. 

Today’s 30-minute State of Play showcase promises to deliver everything from “high-speed car chases to on-foot stealth sequences and shootouts” from Bond’s first mission as an MI6 recruit.
