The previously leaked LEGO SEGA Genesis Controller is official. The brick built gamepad made headlines just over a week ago when low res images were leaked online, but the set has now officially been revealed.
LEGO SEGA Genesis Controller is official
The 2-in-1 SEGA controller, or more officially SEGA Genesis Controller (40769), has now surfaced on official international LEGO sties, including the French LEGO Store that confirms it is indeed the GWP set previously rumored/leaked and is on the way very soon.
Just about all of the previously leaked details, including the image of the box are indeed coming to life here – it is set number 40769, features a 260-piece build, a red brick-built display stand, and will launch on September 8 as a GWP kit.
Some were initially highlighting the set’s box – it is marked as part of the Sonic The Hedgehog series. This is because one of the real standout elements of the build is on the backside of the controller, which features a brick-built Sonic stage featuring a miniature Sonic, some gold Rings, and other micro-scale details from a Green Hill Zone stage.
It also sounds a lot like the build will include a pair of stickers for the front of the build – one reading Mega Drive and the North American Genesis look pictured below.
