Well, just a day after the audio giant JBL unveiled its upcoming Grip Portable Bluetooth Speaker for preorder, the brand is coming back today with two more new releases – the JBL Boombox 4 and PartyBox 720 speakers – and yes, these are also opening up for preorder today too. These two new models bring even bigger sound quality and deeper bass for all your party needs – whether you’re celebrating solo or want to utilize the largest battery-powered speaker yet from the brand for larger crowds. Head below to get the rundown on these two new options joining the prestigious lineup of audio solutions.
JBL Boombox 4: more power in a lighter build
Coming in two pounds lighter than its predecessor, JBL’s new Boombox 4 speaker puts the brand’s AI Sound Boost front and center, which enables the drivers to go harder for louder audio – all while keeping the quality crystal clear. Don’t let its lighter weight fool you, though, as it comes ready to crank out “50% more power output when used on battery.” Plus, you can not only hear the bass, but see it with this model too, as the JBL logos will glow white or orange when you’ve activated the Bass Boost mode, which gives you the choice between deeper bass or more punchy bass.
This new design certainly brings a more robust look to the table, featuring a sturdier foot to keep it upright on uneven terrain or while using it in a moving vehicle, for example. It also comes with an IP68 water and dustproof rating so it can accompany you practically anywhere – the pool, the park, the beach, or any other outdoor space – and you won’t have to worry about it getting wet/dirty. There’s also the built-in Auracast tech too, allowing it to link up with other compatible JBL speakers to expand the sound experience across multiple devices.

Key features:
- AI Sound Boost: Intelligent audio processing for more power and less distortion
- Bass Boost is back – now with two custom modes. Deep Bass delivers a full, rich bass performance, while Punchy Bass offers tighter, energetic bass to fit more upbeat tracks
- LED-lit horn logos on bass radiators pulse when Bass Boost is active
- Almost 50% more output power when used on battery compared to JBL Boombox 3
- New audio construction: A third passive radiator has been added with two new mid-range drivers replacing the subwoofer
- USB-C lossless audio for wired digital listening
- 13lbs makes it a 12% lighter design compared to JBL Boombox 3
- Up to 28 hours of battery, up to 34 hours with Playtime Boost and now with a replaceable battery
- Auracast for seamless multi-speaker or stereo pairing
- IP68 waterproof and dustproof
It’s launching with four colorway options: black, blue, and camo – with it currently available for pre-sale on the brand’s direct website for $549.95 shipped.

JBL PartyBox 720: the largest cordless speaker yet
The new JBL PartyBox 720 speaker is the brand’s largest battery-powered model to date that covers indoor or outdoor party scenes with 800W of power that is bolstered by the brand’s Pro Sound and AI Sound tech. There are two 9-inch woofers housed inside that deliver clean and precise bass, even at its maximum volume. The battery here allows for up to 15 continuous hours of playtime, which should cover most party timeframes, though there’s the added benefit of regaining two additional hours with just 10 minutes of fast charging.
It shouldn’t be any surprise that, like the other two new releases, this one also sports the Auracast feature to expand the audio experience across multiple speakers, but it also brings a more dynamic atmosphere along thanks to the next-gen lighting that provides some visual backup for your thumping music scene. It’s also been given wider and sturdier wheels to handle transporting across various terrains, as well as a more ergonomic handle to pull it along.
Key features:
- Superior JBL Pro Sound with 800W RMS power output, two 9” woofers and two 30mm dome tweeters for clean, deep bass and crystal-clear highs
- AI Sound Boost for intelligent audio processing with more power and less distortion
- Dynamic lightshow that transforms any party with starry lights and strobe effects – all synced to the beat
- Ergonomic integrated handle and wider, sturdy wheels to easily move the party from one room to another
- Battery ready: Up to 15 hours of playtime, plus an extra 2 hours from 10 mins of Fast Charging with easy-to-swap replaceable batteries (2x JBL Battery 600 included)
- Seamless high-quality audio connectivity from any device via USB-C or Combo Jack-XLR
- AuracastTM for easy multi-speaker or stereo pairing
- IPX4 splashproof
- JBL PartyBox App for full sound and light customization
- 2 XLR inputs bring live talent into the mix by connecting a microphone, guitar, or DJ console
