New LEGO SEGA Genesis controller leaks online – here’s your first look

This better be real. Just after the new LEGO Game Boy went up for pre-order, and just ahead of its official release this fall, a new LEGO SEGA Genesis controller has surfaced online. There has been no official announcement as of yet, but imagery and details on a new LEGO Genesis gamepad have leaked online.

LEGO x SEGA

LEGO and Nintendo teamed up to deliver a not so mysterious teaser for the LEGO Game Boy build quite a while back, and we suspect the new LEGO x SEGA teaser is inbound sooner than not as imagery of a new LEGO Genesis controller has have appeared online today.

As of right now, if the images and details are real – generally speaking these LEGO leaks almost always come to fruition, the new LEGO Genesis controller build is a GWP (gift with purchase) set and it is set for release very soon. It’s not the full-scale build we are seeing on the Game Boy.

The leak comes courtesy of a user on Instagram that has delivered an image of the set’s box as well as some additional details.

The new LEGO SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive controller is apparently set for release on September 8, 2025 with purchases of 130€ or more on the official LEGO store. There are no specific details on a U.S. release or pricing, but we are hoping it will be available stateside and, if that is the case, it will be with purchases in and around $150 USD via the LEGO store.

Based on the leaked imagery here, we can see it is a relatively smaller build (it is a GWP after all) at 260 pieces, and features a SEGA Genesis sticker front and center alongside a brick-built stand, but I want it anyway, and I want it now.
