Fantastic looking new Mina the Hollower from Shovel Knight devs lands on Switch 2 in October, play the FREE demo now

One of the standout announcements of today’s Nintendo Indie World showcase for me, and plenty of other folks, was the new Mina the Hollower trailer, its Switch 2 release date, and the FREE demo you can now play on Switch and Switch 2.

Mina the Hollower Switch 2 demo now live

While it certainly wasn’t the Hollow Knight: Silksong release date everyone was hoping for and knew we weren’t going to get. And it wasn’t the Hades 2 details just about everyone assumed would be part of today’s show. But for me personally Mina the Hollower is the indie game I have been most excited for to land on Switch and Switch 2 and we now know exactly when that is going to happen.

We already had the PC/Steam release date, and the devs already launched the demo over there, but for me this is the kind of game that screams Nintendo and I just had to play it on Switch 2.

For those unfamiliar, the game comes courtesy of the Shovel Knight devs at Yacht Club games – a series that even had its own amiibo – and there’s something about the studio’s penchant for pixelated side-scrolling adventure that needs to be on a Nintendo console if you ask me.

This time around, Yacht Club is however going for the sort of overhead, classic Zelda vibes with the new Mina the Hollower in an adventure that has the Zelda Oracle games written all over it.

Descend into a frightful world of action-adventure as Mina, a renowned Hollower, on a desperate mission to rescue a cursed island. Burrow beneath hazards and monsters, whip foes into oblivion, and gear up with an arsenal of sidearms and trinkets. Explore a vast world filled with pixel-perfect graphics, masterful gameplay, beastly bosses and infectious music. Encounter a cast of bizarre characters, search out secrets and illuminate the omnipresent darkness in this brand-new game from the developers who brought you Shovel Knight

We now know the game will release on Switch 1 and Switch 2 the same day as it will on PC, October 31, 2025. And you can now download the FREE demo on Switch and Switch 2 via the eShop.
