All of the new games expected to appear in tomorrow’s Nintendo Switch 2 indie Direct

Yesterday Nintendo made it official – we are getting our second Direct show case in as many weeks and this time it’s going to be all about the indies. While it might not be the first big-time traditional Direct showcase of the Switch 2 era we are all waiting on, the next Indie World Direct is another chance for Nintendo to show off some notable experiences coming to Switch 2 outside of the big-time first-party releases we are anticipating, and it’s time to take a look at what we expect to see, what we are hoping to see, and what games will actually make tomorrow’s Indie World a success.

Mostly needless to say at this point, but gamers were by and large disappointed with last week’s Partner Showcase. It wasn’t bad and it wasn’t the worst, but with so much hype, leaked information, and rumors swirling around the web on big-time AAA ports expected to come to Switch 2, it was admittedly a little bit underwhelming for me as well.

Fast forward to this week and Nintendo is looking to keep Switch 2 releases in the news once again with the next Indie World Nintendo Direct showcase.

Nintendo’s Indie World showcases are well, exactly what they sound like, and are designed to showcase the best, brightest, and weirdest upcoming Switch games from smaller and, often times, more creative independent studios. While there are technically some bigger titles like, Claire Obscura and things of that nature, that are technically indie (depending on how you look at it), the Indie World shows are typically filled with titles from smaller studios, with smaller but equally as impressive games.

What games are expected for this week’s Indie World?

So what games do we expect to see? Well, at this point it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get overly specific, especially considering this will be the first Indie World showcase of the Switch 2 era and how off-base most predictions were for the Partner Showcase last week. But we can hope, dream, and make some educated guesses.

I think most folks, us included, expect to get a Switch 2 release date for Hades 2 – this might even be the big announcement to cap off the show.

Well, it will very well could be the big announcement from the show if the game everyone wants to see end the show doesn’t end the show – and chances are it won’t because Team Cherry just won’t seem to give up the goods on the highly-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong

If Nintendo really wants to come out swinging and have everyone talking about tomorrow’s Indie World instead of just complaining and continuing to ask when the next big Direct showcase is, it will show us Silksong and it will drill down the 2025 release date on Switch 2.

Chances are this will not happen though, so Hades 2 it is? Most folks see Silksong has being to big for an Indie World showcase, and at this point it’s hard to argue that point. But it does certainly fit the bill and this is the first indie show for Switch 2. We’ll see, but don’t get your hopes up.

Beyond that, leakers have claimed there will be one major shadow drop for game ready to play tomorrow and another with a demo up for download tomorrow as well. Nothing confirmed here though.

Shantae: Risky’s Revolution is already set for release this month on the 19th so it seems like a good candidate to see some kind of final trailer situation and for me, perhaps outside of Silksong, the most exciting announcement would be a release date (or at least confirmation) on Switch 2 for the Yacht Club game, Mina the Hollower. Already confirmed for PC, this Zelda-like experience with gorgeous pixel graphics looks amazing and it truly belongs on Switch 2.

Here’s a list of hopefuls and predictions floating around that could make an appearance tomorrow:

  • Shantae: Risky’s Revolution
  • Mina the Hollower
  • Hollow Knight Silk Song (probably not)
  • Hades 2
  • Balatro Mouse Mode
  • Cat Quest 4
  • Mouse Work
  • Slay the Spire 2
  • Abiotic Factor
