The official Switch price increases have now officially started to go into effect at retail in the U.S. with a few surprises along the way. The price hikes aren’t just now live on previous-generation gear and you might want to scope out the details below on the new Switch 2 accessories before you get stuck paying the new list price.
As we reported immediately after Nintendo’s official announcement, all previous-generation Switch consoles have now increased in price.
On top of that, we are also seeing price hikes now live on select amiibo, official Switch 1 accessories, and even the Alarmo, as well as the Switch Online-exclusive controllers – this includes the NES, SNES, N64, SEGA Genesis, and even the new GameCube controller has now jumped up to $69.99 from the previous $64.99, as seen below.
- NES Controller $70 (Orig. $60)
- SNES Controller $35 (Orig. $30)
- N64/Genesis Controllers $55 (Orig. $50)
- GameCube Controllers $70 (Orig. $65)

It looked a lot like the official Nintendo Joy-Con 2 (L)/(R) were about to jump up to $99.99 from the usual $94.99 after Target’s listing reflected as much, and now we know for sure that is exactly what’s happening – Nintendo was particularly vague about the Switch 2 gear in the initial announcement. But you can still score the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con at a deal right now via Amazon – they are currently sitting at $89.99, instead of the new $99.99 list price.
But perhaps the most alarming, or most actionable intel, surfacing today along with the scheduled official price hikes surrounds the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller – one of the best and most popular new Switch 2 accessories on the block.

Nintendo has officially raised the price (again) on the Switch 2 Pro Controller to $89.99 – if you’re looking to score one of these, it might be a very long time before we see a notable price drop on it and Amazon’s listing is still sitting at the previous $84 shipped – it is likely only a matter of time before it raises the price to the new MSRP (get in there while you can). The new Switch 2 Pro Controller started life at $80, then jumped to $85 ahead of launch, and now it’s officially $90.
As you can see in the image above from the official Nintendo store, the consoles are still at the same price they were at launch, but the Pro Controller has gone up and it’s likely only a matter of time before everything does.
- Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle $499 (Walmart)
- Switch 2 + Pokémon: Legends Z-A $499 (Walmart)

And here’s a look at pricing on the official Switch 2 accessories previous to today’s official price increases (alongside the inital announced prices ahead of release) – get in there while you still can as retailers are likely to start reflecting to the new MSRPs at anytime now:
