Amazon drops official black USB-C Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and NumPad down to $179

Friday’s Apple deals are shaping up to be some of the more rare offers we have tracked as of late, and next-up is the black Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad. Apple’s Magic Keyboards, especially the current-generation models, don’t see many notable price drops in general, and today’s deal on the latest black full-size deck is effectively the second chance to save on Amazon – you can now score one down at $179.25 shipped. Details below.

As you perhaps know by now, the black variants of Apple Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard catch a slight premium over the standard white models. The white variant of this model carries a regular list price at $179 and the black goes for $199. So while today’s deal on the black isn’t all that deep, it almost never goes for all that much less than the $179 we have on tap here today – this deal is within less than $2 of the Amazon all-time (the only other notable discount we have tracked on it since release).

You are indeed looking at the latest USB-C model Apple released last fall after finally eschewing the Lightning charging ports. It is otherwise very much the same Magic Keyboard you might already know and love. The model we are featuring here today in particular lands with onboard Touch ID, “providing fast, easy and secure authentication for logins and to unlock your Mac,” as well as the Numeric Keypad extension on the right hand side of the main deck for some extra control options.

I personally use a Logitech MX Keys S for Mac these days – it sells for $129 shipped – but there’s still nothing quite like the look of an official Apple Magic Keyboard on the desktop if you ask me.

Apple Magic Keyboard features:

  • Magic Keyboard is available with Touch ID, providing fast, easy and secure authentication for logins and to unlock your Mac.
  • Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad delivers a remarkably comfortable and precise typing experience.
  • It features an extended layout, with document navigation controls for quick scrolling and full-size arrow keys, which are great for gaming.
  • The numeric keypad is also ideal for spreadsheets and finance applications.
  • It’s wireless and features a rechargeable battery that will power your keyboard for about a month or more between charges.
