8Bitdo announced the launch of its updated Nintendo 64 gamepad last year alongside the Analogue 3D, and it’s finally up for grabs now. You can get one for yourself from Amazon, and it comes in white and black colors. This budget-friendly controller is priced at $39.99 shipped and is fully compatible with Nintendo’s Switch 2 handheld. It’s one of the more affordable options available for the new console, and you can find more details below.
New 8Bitdo 64 controller is now available
Unlike the original Nintendo 64 controller which had an unusual three-prong design, the new 8Bitdo 64 gamepad offers a traditional layout while letting you have all the same buttons as the original model. It also has a single joystick like the original one, but it’s worth noting that its single-joystick design might cause some compatibility issues with modern games that require at least two sticks. It is compatible with both the original Switch and the newer Switch 2 model, as previously mentioned, and you can even use it with Windows and Android devices. You can pair with the system of your choice via Bluetooth or a USB cable.

What’s also good about this new controller is that it features more durable Hall effect joysticks and shoulder buttons. We love how almost all modern gamepads now have Hall effect sticks that help prevent them from developing stick drift over time, and this new model doesn’t disappoint on that front. The fact that it’s compatible with plenty of devices besides the Analogue 3D makes it a great choice overall. Other highlights of this controller include the signature concave rubber joystick cap, a mode switch toggle, an included USB cable, and more.
8Bitdo’s updated Nintendo 64 controller is now available to purchase, and you can get one in black or white colors for $39.99 shipped. This one closely follows the launch of the brand’s new Pro 3 controller which is now up for pre-order. It’s also compatible with Switch 2, and you can learn more about it in our launch coverage right here.
