While Switch 2 gamers await the next additions to the Game Cube library, Nintendo has just added a new title to the classic SNES library that’s perfect for the new mouse mode on your Switch 2 Joy-Con. Now available to play for all Switch Online members, Nintendo has now added the classic Super NES title Mario Paint to the collection.
Mario Paint comes to Switch Online – perfect for Switch 2 mouse mode
For those unfamiliar, Mario Paint was initially released way back in 1992 on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Among the best-selling SNES titles of the era with over 2 million copies sold, the game combines a series of mini games with its animation programming action as well as a music composer, and even a graphics editor of sorts to create your own works of Mario art.
The game was initially designed (by Nintendo Research and Development 1) to be used with the SNES Mouse peripheral (it was sold packaged with one in some cases), but with its addition to the Switch Online SNES library today, you can also use the new Mouse Mode on your Switch 2 Joy-Con to enjoy the classic experience too – “get ready to unlock your inner artist using the Joy-Con 2 controller’s mouse functionality on Nintendo Switch 2, or by using a compatible USB mouse (sold separately) on a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch – OLED Model system.”
In other words, you’ll either need to play it with Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con, or plug-in a USB mouse if you’re playing on Switch 1.

In this classic title originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System™ in 1992, you can use simple mouse controls to draw pictures with all sorts of colors and drawing tools. You can even create animated sequences and write music to add to your collage. Bring your very own video creations to life by combining animation and music with the art you’ve made!
